Managed to find the time to visit Takumen. Almost got lost. There are 3 different ramen shops along this lane and Takumen is the 3rd one.

I'm here for one thing only and that is the Chibakara or the Jiro-styled ramen.
Perhaps because I never talk and just gestured, they thought I was Japanese
and a Japanese staff started talking to me in Japanese

Enough talk here is the picture of the Chibakara!

When it first came, I was slightly disappointed because the amount of vegetables was very little.

But then look at the thick charshu!!!

The soup was thick and pretty good, maybe a little on the salty side but the raw garlic helped. (Apparently you can tell them you want the less salt version. By default they will give you the jap version) The charshu was well seasoned and not to mention huge and chunky.

Total damage: $28.10 after all the taxes.

Will I return to eat this Jiro? Maybe without the additional charshu. $28.10 is really too expensive for me. But I would like to try their other ramen.
Sen likes this.

I didn't get the "I will definitely come back here to eat this" feeling after eating it (I think the price tag was one of the contributing factor) unlike some of the other ramen places like the miso charshu at Baikohken or the shin-jiro from Menya Shinchan.

But like I said, I would probably return to give their other flavours a go... like the Sakutaya.

Some things try once good enough... like Marutama...

Baihouken portion now become baby portion at taka branch, I used to go to the north canal branch jiak because of their big portion. Muratama the ala carte char Shu was nice. Ramen was forgettable. Menya musashi is cmi in my opinion. As of date my most exp default ramen is ippudo.

Baikouken's food standard drop dratically imo. Not worth the money anymore.
