Here are the photos for last night’s Prosperous Kitchen Ala Carte buffet dinner.

Jing Du pork ribs, or Kyoto ribs according to their menu (lol). Nice. The ribs had a nice fragrance and were tender.

Sweet sour pork. Also another nice dish. The pork were slightly crispy and the sweetness and sourness of the sauce was quite balanced.

Sambal pork . The sambal sauce was not spicy enough, otherwise quite okay.

Black pepper beef. Quite nice. The black pepper was not overpowering, and the beef was tender, though I suspect its from the use of tenderizer.

San Bei Chicken. I I believe the actual san bei chicken should be very fragrant from the use of rice wine, soy sauce and sesame oil. This one not fragrant at all, so can considered fail though the chicken was tender and tasted okay.

Mapo toufu. Failed. The saucy was slightly sweet and diluted. Not spicy at all.

Toufu with broccoli. We also tried their toufu with mushroom although I forgot to take photo of it. These 2 dishes used egg toufu which we prefer, so I found these 2 toufu dishes better than the claypot seafood toufu which we tried too.

The infamous fried fish. Not that fresh, plus they using fresh water tilapia, so the muddy/fishy smell quite obvious. Samba and Swordsman dun like, so I ended up whacking the 2 portions we ordered. Edible lar.

Fried youtiao. Avg.

I liked this furong egg a lot. It comes with bits of char siew, prawns, onions. A tad oily though, but shiok.

Sliced fish hor fun. The fish slices were fresh, but the hor fun used is the very thin and fine kind, so the whole thing became a bit clummy. Tasted okay though, got just a bit of wok hei.

Salad prawns. We also ate cereal prawns (the cereal was nice, but the prawns somehow did not absorb the fragrance of the cereals) and sweet sour prawns. The prawns were generally quite fresh.

Prawn roll. Found it avg, but Samba and swordsman seemed to like it but Samba felt that it could be better if the fillings were not diced up so finely. Ended up ordering another 2 portions which they whacked.

Only on the actual day of birthday. 2 people go is the most worth it. For 2 people, normally the birthday boy or girl will want to go with his or her someone special right? Imagine Toons' birthday and he ask Swordsman along. Abit sala, the mental image.

We tried all their 3 soups. Ordered only 1 portion each to test test first. They have crabmeat thick broth, Sichuan spicy soup and lotus soup. The crabmeat and Sichuan spicy a bit starchy, esp the crabmeat soup. All 3 soups were quite okay, though the lotus soup was the nicer one. We ended up ordering 1 individual bowl of the lotus soup each.

For desserts, they only had almond longan jelly and red bean soup. I found the almond smell too strong for the almond jelly, but both Samba and Swordsman found it okay. Swordsman even ate 2 additional portions. I ate the red bean soup instead. It was thick and flavourful enough, just a tad sweet, so added water to it. Did not take photo of the red bean soup cos its in my tummy by the time I remembered to take photo.

Total dmg was abt $64, so works out to be $21.50 nett each. Quite value for money considering the amt we ate. 32 servings of food, so about $2 per serving.

Wow. You all got so many variety of prawns. Seems like your deal was better than the Paramount one. Somemore at half the price.

i think it's perfectly fine, one shouldn't discriminate against others' preferences...

just like i told my vegan friend that she shouldn't consider me a barbarian just coz i happen to prefer eating meat and not vegetables
