i find kushi to be above average food and for buffet-wise is quite good... but in terms of good food i'd find most of the fine-dining restaurants food will be better than the best buffets....... so if u go into a buffet expecting fine dining... be prepared to be disappointed...

anyway after having the $68++ one... i agree that i think i'd rather go for the $48++ kushi one... cos i can't seems to appreciate the "seasonal" items...

Did you guys really like the toro?
If you have eaten proper Toro you wont even recognize the taste, texture of thier toro.
It came ICE COLD, how to eat it ICE COLD? omg.

The seasonal fish & the toro is a sham.

Btw guys, no offense intended, but i believe most of you have not tried proper sashimi, cos you you guys did, you will INSTANTLY realise that you are being conned into eating mass quantities of low grade sashimi.

Even the oysters, i was shocked when they served me those oysters. Those are sheng shiong oysters, look like it , taste like it.

No more buffets for me anymore .. lol.
Rather spend money on good quality food then to gorge myself eating low quality food.

Lol, nothing wrong with eating alone mah. I personally think it has its own charm and pros.


No probs for Oscar. Eating with family more impt. Seeya next week for prosperous kitchen. Tue to Thu, any day okay with you right?
i don't want to people give me a "funny" look. hehe. I not sure you encountered this before. i eat before alone at a restaurant before. waitress ask me "are you alone ? no friends joining you ?"

I used to eat alone before I jio my colleagues along then here with you guys and gals. Usually when eating alone I tend to get full very soon as I just eat and eat but with companies I get to chit chat with them so the buffet last longer.

Yes, we have feedback to the boss about it being ice cold but it seem they didn't change for the better. There was still ice crystal in the fish when we ate the last round.

Oh the reason why i went to thier buffet was because, it thought since it doesnt have a huge spread, the quality of thier fish should be very good.

Just had Saizeriya meat doria for lunch. $4.28 only. Worth it!

Some buffet places use such promotion to clear their leftover dinner items. I worry that this place uses the same tactics. Otherwise the timing actually suits me well. After work I can pop by. Lol.


Does this steamboat buffet have a divider to put 2 soup ? as he don't really like people take his food or see food he don't like dumped into steamboat. so must say divde territory. like dmz
sorry i do not know. but the first picture at the website seems to have the divider.

this remind me of ah yat dim sum offer....
ah yat also does the same? i have heard raves about ah yat dim sum being cheap and edible.

eat alone at buffets and restaurants ? or hawker center/coffee shops/cafe.

there are difference. yes.. you tend to get full very fast, cos you concentrate on eating...

same the seasonal item 1 piece of abalone.. omg.. that justify another 20 dollars ??? if go back to kushi, defintely going for the 48++.

i don't eat alone at restaurants either... let alone buffets...... find it like so cham liddat... have to eat alone.. if alone i'd rather go hawker and eat... got plenty of choices... good food and save $$$... afterall part of the reason of going restaurants is for the environment -- where u can chat with your friends in a quieter and more relaxed mood...

its pain in the ass to jio people go for makan, if they are muslims, vegetarians, anti-buffet, or just simply can't eat much. some don't eat this or don't eat that. very trouble some. especially girls (not referring to girls at makan zone) so in the end go eat alone..

Came back from Kushi Yakitori today,

I can say its not worth the price. Went for the 68++ with wife, found out seasonal fish is only 1 serving per TABLE. and the seasonal fish is tasteless anyway.

The tuna belly(toro) is a real letdown, even the toro at Manpuku at Tampines one is MUCH better then this. Absolutely dissapointing, my wife only ate 1 piece out of the 3 pieces. I didnt want to touch it either.

Now the oysters, typical kind that i get from Sheng Shiong. wtf?
Taste wise its not sweet at all. yucks.

Lobster soup, hmm, its like miso soup with 2 piece of lobster inside. hmm, lots of msg, had to drink lots of green tea, didnt even finish the soup.

Hamachi kama is OK, tasteless but edible.

Wagyu beef, meat is not so tender as expected, the quality i get from the butcher at parkway is 5x better then what they served. Didnt even finish it, like eating some low quality beef.

Salmon belly is not inside the 68++ menu, wtf? Waitress said its only ala carte.

Lau sai 8x tonight.

Good points:

Scallop was sweet, but slightly slimy(not fresh)

Hamachi was OK, not sweet but edible.

Ebi was interesting, huge raw prawn. Slightly slimy again(not fresh).

Raw beef with raw egg is not bad, cant imagine eating more then one serving though.

Conclusion, AVOID.

Overall, my experience so far with jap raw food is, either tatsuya for EXCELLENT seasonal fishes, handrolls, Toro & Uni.

OR

Parkway Sakuraya for small to medium bites of Hamachi, Kamachi, Hand rolls and other assorted stuff, not so bad.

not much experience in eating japanese raw food, so i can't tell its low grade or high grade. i prefer those cooked food but bo hua spending 68++ on cooked food so whack those raw food also.

actually i'm no big fan of sashimi... i do enjoy eating them sometimes but i can't really appreciate some of the differences between the diff types... so if u ask me let just say that i can't tell difference between toro and normal ones... or maybe i just hadn't eaten really good toro like u said...?

as for oysters... i tot i liked the kushi one... it's better than normal buffets oysters...

ya it's sometimes kinda hard to find ppl to makan... dat is why i join makan forum outings... but if i couldn't find anyone to makan... so be it...

if like that i think you just eat maggie mee everyday... $2 for 5 packs enough?

not kids size, maybe you eat 20% full?
