I never heard of SWEET XO before.. its only Bitter AND Alcoholic taste.. Maybe Denny is correct i dont know but from my experience.. the taste or as he likes to put it "characteristic" is the same.. just the intensity.. if not why is it call XO when there is NO hint of XO-ness? gEEz...

Back from brunch, the rest except Toons went for desserts but I came home due to tummy not feeling well since early morning.

Had a nice brunch with 7 other members and we talk about everything under the sun and some not under the sun stuffs from HWZ to durian and even hentei. Although my tummy not feeling good today and didn't really eaten much especially the desserts, I still have a lot of pictures to share with you.

Lets start off with the cold dishes and presenting the seafood on ice.

Spiny lobsters - but all of us agreed that it tasted very plain, doesn't have the sweetness of the lobster itself although it's fresh.


Boston lobsters - this one fared so much better.


Lobster's claws and crab legs - A bit hard to eat the crab legs without the proper utensil and not that juicy either.


Prawns and Crayfish
- surprisingly, the crayfish is quite fresh here, not the usual powdery flesh as with most buffet. PPP has taken a fancy with this.


Yabbies - The freshwater crayfish, but seeing chewtoy digging away trying to get to the tiny bit of flesh in it doesn't seem worth the energy.

Parma ham - it's tougher then usual but the honeydew is sweet.


Assortment of hams - didn't try these.



Assortment of cheeses - have to wait for PPP and Toons to tell you which are the yucky ones.


Scallops - this is a cold dish, again PPP seem to like it as I saw him taking a few times.


Squids - cold dish again

Assortment breads - I took one of the below round type and find it good, just on the cold side, would be better if they have an oven to let us heat it up.




Smoked salmon and trout - tasted pretty nice to me and not too salty.

Bamboo clams - cooked thai style, the sweet, sour, and a bit hot taste blended well and no sands in it.

Pan Seared Foie Gras with apple rosemary compote and brioche - Although not seared to crispy on the outside, the combination with the sauces is a hit with most of us. Many plates were ordered.


Meyer Natural Angus Prime Flat Iron Beef with bearnaise and watercress - An instant hit with meat eater: PPP, who devoured plates after plates of it.



Lobster Thermidore - The bland spiny lobster on ice transformed itself to a creamy dish which is well received by most of us.


Sumac Lamb Chops with fresh mint sauce
- The doneness of this dish is not consistent and range from raw to medium done. As you can see from both pictures below, when orders are pooled together, the lamb chops are not individually grilled so the sides do not have that seared appearance. On the other hand, the picture below it is nicely done but by then I am too stuffed to even eat it.

Tempura Prawns and Vegetables with dipping sauce - B the time it get served to us, it's not hot any more. Just an ok dish.


Lamb Rogan Josh with saffron pulao - Some find it too spicy for them, while others find it a tad salty.


Peking Duck with pancakes and plum sauce - Nobody like it, period.


Champagne Scrambled Eggs with smoked salmon and asparagus - there isn't a hint of champagne fragrant to be detected.


Egg Benedict with smoked salmon or shaved leg ham - Chewtoy said it tasted nice though the egg york is not runny.

Steamed Garoupa Fillet with ginger and spring onion - over cooked so the fish is on the hard side.


Mash Potato with truffle oil - everyone agreed is nice but because it's a cabo dish, no one want to order 2nd round.


Slow Braised Beef Short Ribs with black currant - Almost everyone agreed it's tender except Toons who find it a bit tough.


Atlantic Salmon "Sous Vide" with spinach emulsion - This one and another dish took so long to be served till we complained. I didn't eat this as I am already quite full but others said it not bad.



King Prawns with garlic and parsley butter - After almost an hour, this dish finally got served.

This one as I was cutting a piece from the left side, a fruit fly flew out from the fruit so I switch to cutting the right side of the cake.
