I am thinking of visiting Malaysia this summer. After reading your topic, Ipoh might be an ideal destination for my plan. By the way, what is the best way to travel around in Ipoh? Bus, cab or any other types of transport?

thanks for considering Ipoh

Honestly, best way is still by car, be it own car, private tours or rental car.
The public transport is not reliable in Ipoh and also the cabs (not all but mostly) will try to make a quick buck out of you.

If you were to rent a car, I suggest might as well take a private tour with my dad because its about the same price and my dad can bring you to all the hidden yummy local places, secret temples and if you preferred, be invited for a home cook meal as well

When in doubt, travel !

I've also written a guide on Ipoh on my blog - more as a walking tour that you can do in the city. Hope it's helpful.

Private-hire service

To move around Ipoh city, you can also consider the private-hire service: Meng Passenger Service (Facebook Page).

actually Ipoh is up and coming
plenty of good food and less crowded than Penang
if time permits, should do Ipoh- Taiping - Penang

beside, there are plenty of new hotels around town..
nice chic café at night too
