So how's the tap? any browny water coming out? I will go take a look at the 3-way socket next week.
This afternoon at mr diy, there is only qty 1 left of the 3 way socket left, the rm $9.50 one I bought. There is 1 left also of the rm $10.50 model. However plenty of the rm $15.90 model left.

Galleria aka ex-Kota Raya

What's the best way to go over from JB CIQ? I've yet to go there, but hope to do it soon.

Should I walk over from City Square - any preferred route? Walk over from the bus station nearest there - forgot the name offhand? Or just cab over from City Square? :)

Galleria@kotaraya?
3 mins walk from city square.
Exit city square from maybank side, go across main road (jalan wong ah fook) using zebra crossing. Then either walk thru plaza seni which is at other side of zebra and whose back door is just across another rd from kotaraya OR after zebra crossing just go left, meet the 1st rd and walk up 2 mins and see kotaraya at next jcn

Now kotaraya has quite a bit of restaurants. Pizza hut, Beriayni house, kentucky, secret recipe, kenny rodger, subway.......
Also Kapitan had opened quite a good size supermarket (bigger definitely than the kapitan at city square). However city sq still much more overall.
I got this good buy at mr diy today. A multi function remote with LEARNING function at only RM $15! Works very well. Can be programmed to control 6 devices, tv, dvd player, hifi set, etc and even my aircon. Very easy to operate /use learning function. You can either set the code manually or use the learning function. Very good for old rare remotes which are no longer on sale.
At simlim towers (not square) the same type of remote is cheapest S $10, though the simlim one can operate 10 devices.

Was puzzled by yr question of brown water. Shouldn't happen isn't it? Unless they use such lousy metal that it had already rusted inside before you buy.

I had posted this brown water thing a few months back when someone asked about it. I bought this tap from Tesco almost half price compare to SG. However, after a few days, I had to replace it with a local one. It is made of metal but the material quality is bad. I replaced my old tap but the water was brown in colour. However, my other taps had no problem then. I fixed back the old tap and the water was clear. So I know there is something wrong with the tap I bought from MY. Unless you know and trust the brand and quality in MY. Otherwise, I won't buy, learn my lesson. At least, you are paying for the certification of the tap. SG water stuff, can't recall when, my vendor told me he had stopped selling those item, the seller is required to pay for licence in order to sell it. That's why the price of such stuff went up.

I was thinking if you had bought and tried them, I would want to know what and where you got it. Otherwise, I will try to time and buy at local supermart like NTUC when there is 20% sales and I got another 10% using voucher. That way, I get something I want and cheaper than my neighbourhood store.

I go see for myself. Today, NTUC offer 2x for $13.95, I have 10% discount using voucher. Based on promotion price, I may not even need to by from Mr DIY because by calculation, it is merely cheaper by 10c compare to the offer ones from NTUC with my discount. thank you

Very tempting for me to really take a look over at that store. Is it bigger than the one at Tebrau Tesco? Last month I was at kotaraya, but forgotten to check it out. Kapitan is more like supermart, can only buy selectively. Some stuff cost more than SG and some are marginal, not worth bring back. Kapitan at City Square, hardly have anything to buy unless its MY local produce. Anyway, not much for me to buy apart from stuff like cutterfish snacks, satay fish, and some local crackers..... things like seaweed actually cost more than SG

Mr Diy kotaraya n terbau about same size, but has slightly different things.
Eg electrical section is bigger and has better things in kotaraya. Bulbs section very good. Led bulbs up to 18watts! Prices of 5watt led bulb very good. Also energy saving bulbs 18w only rm3.90. Bought one to try. Construction n design seems gd but maybe short life?
i think I better stop else may be accused of being shareholder there.

I was there today. Walk all the way from Denga City Mall back to Kotaraya. Spedn quite sometime inside. I saw the taps you were referring to. However, I have my reservation about buying those, I check the inside of the of tap, looks dark and some not polished, not to my liking. But they are real cheap, half the SG price. Besides, the tap bought in SG, the attachment at the front of the tap mostly make of metal. But those on sales are made of plastic. So that makes the big different in price. However, I bought some other stuff. Will be going back when I have time. I found something I haven't seen for very long time.

This Mr DIY is bigger than the one at Tebrau. More organise, spacious and many more variety. There are quite a number of things I had not seen before at Tebrau Tesco branch.

Was at the shop today too. Got the special design wash basin tap. (The one which looks like a giraffe. Hope this design solve the problem of the usual designs where spout is too near to basin for washing face towel). Will tell you the feel/quality once I use it.

3 mins is correct. If you walk through plaza seni, it is 2 mins if traffic lights are in yr favour.
Just go city square food court on 6th floor and look out towards jalan wong ah fook thru the glass windows and you can see the galleria@kotaraya about 200m away.
By the way, it is old, but completely renovated (all shops moved out for about 1 yr while renovating went on)
No, no apple shops. Previously catering more to locals but there was a 3 storey departmental store then. Now improving, but still city sq have much much more. Now, no depatrtmental store, only a kapitan supermart bigger than the one at city square. Most shops are small.
I think only foodcourt, eateries, diy shop and supermart are the shops which interest most at kotaraya. There are clothing shops and shoe shops but those at city sq bigger.
If you are walking thru plaza seni, note that it is a circular plus upward walk. You will go round about 2 small circles taking 40 seconds, reach a glass door you push open and kotaraya is then 25 metre ahead. If you opt not to go thru plaza seni and instead take the road to the left side note that bec of deepavali, the whole rd is lined with roadside stalls such that you may not recognize that it is the road you should walk up to reach galleria.

For a change, perhaps eat at the restaurants or foodcourt at kotaraya.
Different setting and quieter at kenny rogers, pizza hut, subway, secret recipe. The latter has a teatime set of order cake get coffee/tea free.
Also in case you do not already know, if you come out thru main door of kotaraya, turn right and cross the side road there is a pharmacy where some things are cheaper than the other 3 pharmacies (1 inside city sq and the other 2 to the left and right of city sq.)

There was this electric impact sealer (the type used by small shops for sealing their plastic bags of products) which was selling dirt cheap (compared with Singapore). Small size one for 6 inch bags at about $7 only. Big size for 18 in bags also available at about half the price I got at cash converter in spore.
Very useful for keeping nuts, biscuit, medicine, etc fresh when you open a big packet or bottle of these.

That's the stuff I was referring too dirt cheap. I know because when I was still in school, I had ever asked about such an item.. eventually own a French made one which cost me $50+ The one you saw at DIY, I ever asked, it was then something like $100+... crazy expensive then.... ..back in the early late 70s
