TROUBLESHOOTING

What should i do first with a new machine?
Fill water tank with water and run the machine, to delodge all air trapped in the machine. Makes sure water come out of the grouphead and steam/water wands if any
I on the machine but it don't work.
Water is too low.
Check the floater in the water tank is in the right position, refer to manual.
Why is my coffee under extracting and running very quickly?
1. Grinding too coarse.
2. Powder too little.
3. Tamping pressure is not enough.
4. Coffee not fresh or oily enough
Why is my coffee over extracting and running dripping slow?
1. Grinding too fine.
2. Too much powder.
3. Pressure setting too low.
4. Reduce tamping pressure
What's the optimal pressure for brewing?
It should be between 9-11 bars
How often should i descale the machine?
Semi professional machines actually require less descaling than capsules or fully automatic machines.

It still depends on water condition. Singapore water is soft unless you are using mineral water or your water is not usual.
If the water condition is soft, you may not need to do any descaling until you find the water obstructed.

Before you commence on the descaling, what you should probably do first is to pull the shower screen down and clean it or replace it.
It won't take much trouble or cost much.

If your water is hard, we will recommend once or twice a year depending on condition.
There is almost no crema on the espresso.
Change the grinding degree.
Increase the tamping pressure.
The coffee is too old.
The optimum blend is 80% Arabica and 20 % Robusta beans.
What adaptor should i use for direct water source machines?
If you are using water supply, a water reducer aka regulator maybe needed.
The hose on the machine is running on 3/8"
How should i adjust my ODGgrinder?
The grinder goes by timer.
First set up the grinding fineness you want.
Then program the timing, refer to manual for instructions.

FAQ asking which grinder is suitable to pair with the machines.

Unless it's for commercial use, the Bezzera BB005 is definitely good enough.


1. It can definitely grind fine enough for espresso.
2. It is extremely durable. According to released statistics, out of about 400 BB005 grinders sold in 2013-2016, not one had been returned for servicing or repair. In some instance, they were used in commercial environment which grinds over 1kg of coffee every day.
3. They are also intended to be rotating at a slower speed with less heat to preserve the aromatic notes better during grinding.
