Just a data point for subsidy.

iPhone 11 256GB, Apple SG is selling at S$1389 and SingTel Combo 2 price is S$878. The nominal subsidy is S$511.

For Android I do not buy high end, rather I will limit the amount I pay to be below S$350 for my Combo 2 plan.

Huawei P30, Huawei official price S$998 but the promotion price is about S$798. And SingTel Combo 2 price is S$308. The nominal subsidy is S$490.

The total subsidy is S$1001 nominally.

In reality you can get cheaper price probably for the two phones. So the subsidy is lower. But I think my calculation of S$750 is conservative. S$850 may be a good number to use.

If you take Sim Only Plan and
Buy phone outside, will it be the same or better?
Sim Only Plan got more data...talktime and only 12 month contract?

All in all the maths show it is better for me to stick to the current Combo plan. Once my wife is done with iPhones then I will change to SIM only after contract expires.

I do believe in the end SIM only plan is the trend and telcos will move to SIM only plan eventually.

Yes, that is currently the best for average users with huge amount of data.

CIS always more worth it than phone + sim only unless the person uses only a few GB per month.

Sent from REDMI NOTE 5 Gold using GAGT

Not for me because CIS is not compatible with Singtel Circle benefits. I need SingTel TV for my kids.

Also different companies may have different CIS benefits. Our CIS is so so. Main attraction is free S$5 Caller ID.

Both my 2 bank accounts are local so I can't help you there. I do know that Giga can't send sms reply to international short code numbers.

By any chance, does anybody know which MVNO in Singapore support sms reply to international short code numbers.

Yes, sim only plan good if you are okay with 20gb data and using a phone for more than 2 years. For me, i renew my singtel cis plan to combo XO78, i get 40gb data and weekend data and free caller id for $60 per mth and i get to buy note10+ 256gb for $68 which is the best deal during sitex.
