Yes. To be digitally ready for e-payments. Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Singtel Dash, Apple Pay. So you don't need to bring physical cards out.

NFC is also used for public transport.

If you are planning to use Google pay or link your credit card for wireless phone payment (over counter/transport).

Than NFC is important.

Initially wasn't really sold on using GPay but when Transitlink started enabling the use of Credit Card for transport, that's when I went to get a phone with NFC and now it is essential for me.

it's so convenient to be able to top up an ezlink card (including my kids' concession cards) using the ezlink app on Android.

on iOS though...it doesn't allow topups

Without NFC, I would not even consider the phone. 21st century without NFC it will be an inconvenience. No wireless payments and nfc Bluetooth pairing etc.

Not sure why some manufacturers omit NFC. I would have thought cost considerations, but then
it's unthinkable that even the Xiaomi Black Shark series doesn't have NFC.

I go supermarket without my wallet anymore because of NFC. Just Google Pay wherever I can.

Can also used to read card wallet remaining value such as ezlink/nets flashpay card. Other counties' transport card also can read...provided you download their respective app.

Can also share website url/youtube, transfer photo/media..ect by tapping with another phone that has NFC as well...
