He is not doing it for the Americans, the average Joe on the street will end up paying 10% more for everything. Trump is doing it for his own political gain before the midterm elections. His approval rating has gone up recently as a result.

He has to do what he thinks is best for his own country.
Nothing wrong.

What’s wrong for him to do that esp with the huge deficit / job protection ?

Many Americans are jobless because US companies / factories did not survive when these cheaper China products flood the market.
Some US companies moved out too & import back the same products.

Many countries do tax to protect the local industries.

The US has one of the lowest jobless rate in the world at 4% only.

Many Americans are jobless
Collecting tariff does not protect job, the production simply moves to other lower cost countries. The factories will never move back to the US.
Huge deficit is really not a bad thing according to most economists. Trump chose to make a devil out of it.

Wait for China to impose tariffs on 200B worth of US goods? How?
China only import a total of 129B of US goods in year 2017.

Then China will find another way to hit back. I don't expect this war to end soon. It is only partially about trade. It is ultimately about world supremacy.

Good. Trump is doing great things. Please continue.
China has gotten too conceited and have forgotten who they owe everything to.

They don't owe anybody anything, on the contrary, they are the biggest owner of the US government debt.

Trump the noob politician is so much better than the previous pro politicians who are NATO kings...they talk until cows come home still talking but no/limited effective policies to tackle problems...until US gov can't pay their civil servants and have to shut down, until owe China mountainous debt, until NK on verge of becoming nuclear weapon producer, until wars on foreign lands spread, not to mention waging wars in the name of world peace, revenge or disarming WMDs. Though not perfect, Trump still trumps them all. He deserves our top politicians' paycheck imho LOL

US unemployment is more than 4% are they same like Singapore, those who can't find jobs within a certain period are considered out of workforce and not in the unemployment statistics.

U know Trump wants China to hit back?
