The death/tpd for aviva is 500k though, quote with that is because only 500k and above have 20% perpetual discount. This are the Pro and con but more competitive premium will be from axa. But their just ended their 40% perpetual discount few weeks back so now most competitive might be GE.
I see. One more question, when an 200k ECI/CI was claimed, will the term/TPD of 400k still be in effect? Any change in premium once the claim is made, say no more rider payment or fully waived.

For aviva, eci will not reduce the death/tpd coverage, the rest of the insurers will reduce accordingly. Once claimed, the eci rider portion premium will be remove accordingly. Premium to waive if u add premium waiver rider.

Hi all, posting on behalf of my friend who needs advice on term insurance...

"Hi, been reading up on insurance matters. I am 27 male (ANB), non-smoker. I currently only have hospitalisation plan (prushield plus) and would like to get term insurance. Thinking of getting 500k coverage, 300k CI, 500k TPD. Would also like to know how much ECI rider (100k) would cost and whether it makes sense to get this on top of CI at this time of my life since it is much more expensive.

On top of that, I am also considering getting the aviva mindef group insurance as it is cheaper and can complement part of the coverage. Do advise if this is a good idea. Thanks!"

Eci is much more expensive at this point of life? It gets more expensive when u get older and harder to get when get older when got health conditions. Have done many applications and also many got declined and loading and etc. There is no 1 answer fits all. It depends on your budget and whether u think u need the payout of eci if it happens. The best time to buy is at birth, its the cheapest especially wholelife. Wholelife of same coverage for a age 25 premium near 3k, while a baby only cost 1k +.

Hello!
The cost of the ECI rider would highly be dependent on the coverage length. but it would usually be in the range of $600~ $1k depending on which provider off my head.

As to your question about if it make sense or not, it is dependent on your individual needs as well as accessing if it is something you find important to get coverage for. It is much more expensive because it covers all stages of CIs and the actuary team priced it due to claim experience and risk levels etcetc.

The Aviva Mindef insurance has been widely discussed in the forum as well! But yes it is a good complement but do note that there are certain shortfalls when it comes to coverage for ECI/CIs as well as the threshold for payout for 1 lump sum in the event of a claim :)

Thanks both for the swift replies! I understand the rationale behind ECI pricing and would definitely consider picking it up while still young without any underlying symptoms. In that case, do you have quotes for coverage until 65 years old, both with and without ECI? Would like to better understand the price difference and decide from there. (500k death/tpd, 300k ci, 100k eci if applicable) Thanks!

Ah ok thank you so much! Quite surprise to see that the premium for female is generally higher than male, and also X is more competitive than SA for 99/100!

You are welcome.

Yup. And X eci is till 99 while SA eci is till 85 only. SA eci max is till 85. Got put a note at the bottom of the quotes. But X tpd is till 70 only while SA is till 99.
So each got its pros and cons.

Given that the prices are quite similar between SA, X, GE for the same coverage (e.g. 1M death/TPD, 300K CI, 100K ECI, until age 70) - which one would you recommend in terms of claims/other benefits?
