Went to open a CIMB Starsaver and FD Acct at Raffles Place.

While waiting, was approached by one of their sales staff.

Turn out there is a promo for walk in customer only.

Open a Starsaver acct with at least $10K and $50 will be credited in.

There are 2 types of Starsaver acct: current account (with cheque book) and a savings acct ie 2 acct.

I opened both.

If I remembered correctly, the terms and conditions are:
1. The acct have to be maintained for at least 6 months.
2. I can't recall if this is only for customers who does not have any savings acct with CIMB.
3. The $50 will be credited in on the 3rd month.

U need to approach their mobile / roadshow sales banker, seems that counter staff cannot offer this promo.

opened the two accounts. treat them as 6-mth fixed deposit, put $10k in each.

With $10k,
u get 0.8% x $10k x 6 mths = $40.
u get another extra $50.
total interest = $90 for 6 mths.
$90/$10k = 1.8% interest

it's the best 6-mth 'fixed deposit' out there currently. albeit only for $10k. very wuhua lah...

Both of you are spot on.

I already had the intention to open this acct. Thus was pleasantly surprised to get more 'bonus interest'.

My spending is not high, a lot of promos for higher interest rate like OCBC 360 acct comes with too many T&Cs - I won't qualified for it.

I'm also not cash-rich, thus this acct and promo best suits ppl like me who just want something simple and easy.

Yeah, finally CIMB will conduct the lucky draw soon. Within 60 days after this month because the target already hit & exceed 88888 new customers.
