You will earn base interest from 15July to 31July on your daily balance.

I think lowest balance affects the bonus interest computation, not base interest.
Thanks. This clarifies things.

Thanks to @sinkie as well for his guidance.

And because you deposit on the first day or on date of opening, you get 0.1% faster or 1 month earlier than those who deposit on the second day

I was given 14 days to put my first deposit when I opened my citi maxigain, and didn't bother to really bring cash or cheque down just to start my counter step up faster
I think the counter still moves if deposit on the second day of account opening.
However it affects the bonus interest in the next month as the lowest balance was 0 in the month of account opening. Bonus interest 0.1%*$0=$0

If deposit on 2nd day and later
Bonus Interest earned 0.1% x 0 /365 x 31 = $0

or

If deposit on 1st day or day of account opened
Bonus interest earned = 0.1% x $15,000/365 x31 = $1.27

$1.27??

So I see so many brudders here going through all the trouble to argue with the Citi staff to deposit on first day is for $1.27 interest (of every $15,000)

If you deposit on the first day, this month will be counter zero and you will be counter 1 next month.

If you deposit on 2nd, next month you still counter zero.

No lah, first month 0% bonus interest, regardless which day open/deposit. Second month 0.1% but base on previous (first) month lowest balance.

Haha. I don't try to analyse so much. The experience ones shared that best that deposit value date is same as account opening as there is a difference. So I just follow as I trust them. I have learnt lots of tips from many in the various forums who are very kind and generous to share.

Edit : I don't mean to follow blindly. Need to understand how the account works. But for small things like cash/FAST vs cheque, best time to deposit or withdraw I just take note and follow if I want to maximise the benefits.

Some even took half day off, drive or take taxi to go down the branch to apply for the account so that they can deposit on the same day with cash/cashier so that they can earn that $1.27 additional interest (per $15,000 deposit).

Or is it they are misunderstood that the account must be funded on the same day??

My personal opinion is this account is good but better to open this account at your best convenience time lah.

The time required is to open the account with a new bank which not all can afford over lunch time etc. Funding can be done via FAST once account is open.

Yes, you will receive the debit card and PIN mailer separately via post.

I didnt activate the debit card due to risk of fraud which you mentioned.
