70k sia. A big jump. Within one month, need to gather 55k. The rate is still attractive but only really for those with lots of idle cash.

well, guess the RMs or staffs were right all along.. just that they didnt know the exact date it would be rolled out. and logical for them to warn first because imagine someone opened and only has less than 70k then want to close account got early closure fee of $50 within 6 months... maybe the bank wanted to change earlier but kept delaying it for certain reasons such as earning more brownie points or to gain more awareness for their bank.

yup.. the real impact is the 70k to gain base interest.. it affects new accounts greatly.. as if you put only 15k to gain step up counter then you don't earn much at all.. then if you put 70k at the start also not worth.. so basically have to sacrifice that 15k to collect the counter then top up to 70k later on ...

and also for ppl who may not have that much money of 70k...

[70k*((0.7*1.6)+1.2%)]/12

(70k*(1.12%+1.2%))/12
(70k*2.32%)/12= $135.33 per month

Oh well, i'm only at counter 2. Guess i'm moving everything back to my other account later today.

Actually if we just empty out the account, how would they charge early closure or fall below fees?

Most probably they will blacklist you and you won't be able to open Citi account if you own them $.

I'm on counter 4 and the rest of my $ are in DBS multipler earning 2%+ not really worth to transfer the funds from multipler over.. btw any recommendation where to park the leftover funds of 15-20k once I close my account?

Lots of peeps closing account next year. Hopefully after losing so much business in Jan. They will up their game once again to reward those staying on and to avoid losing more.

2.32% is decent ma.
if no 70k...seriously ur gain per mth is also limited la. u dun lose much for exiting.

one tip is to gather funds from ur village and pool tgt lor
[70k*((0.7*1.6)+1.2%)]/12

(70k*(1.12%+1.2%))/12
(70k*2.32%)/12= $135.33 per month
