A noob question,

Currently have 75K in UOB one account
Maxigain have 30K, counter at 7

Should i top maxigain now or wait till counter hits 12 to maximise the interest earned?
U shld consider taking out 15k from Citi, let counter drop to 6, then maintain til counter 12.

The 15k can earn more elsewhere fir next 6 to 7 months

hi anyone transferred into maxigain account recently to top up balance?
I tried to top up to 70k due to the changes using FAST transfer from DBS account, DBS says account number not valid? I am using the account number stated on my maxigain account statement in 10 digits format

Login to Citibank online to see whether your account is inactive, ie no activity for the past 6 months.
If inactive, activate it and try fast again.

did not check, however i called up citibank cso. i have 2 accounts, each had 15k previously as i wanted to wait till counter hits 12. now its at the 11th counter.

the CSO advised me to transfer the 15k from one account to another on 1st January 2019 (after getting the rebates for Dec 2018 on 31st Dec). Then, send in a request on 1st January (call them) to cancel the other account. Thereafter top up remainder to 70k using FAST transfer. The new terms starts on 2nd Jan 2019.

There is no need to cancel I think. I have 1 single maxigain and another joint maxi. My joint maxi had less than $1k but my counter is ticking. You mayb what to do that instead and check it out.

this is true if u max out your SSB already.
else SSB is already offering more than 2% for first year interest.
not enough $$$ to max out SSB aso.

Can refer to post #4178. Few year back I did the same.

Hi JustDoLor, as per your post #4178, when you emptied your MaxiGain account few years ago and called CSO immediately to close the account, was your account already opened for more than 6 months?

Hi, that was a normal step-up account solely use to giro my credit card payment. It was a more than 6 mth account. At that time Citi up their minimum balance several times, $1k, $3k, $5k.... so annoyed that I withdrew everything online w/o first consulting CSO and, only later (same day) called CSO to close it.

At that time the CSO said there was a few cents interest earned not yet credited, but I told CSO she can keep it..

If less than 6mth account, I suggest u call the CSO regarding early closure penalty and decide what to do from there.
Also suggest if possible wait till end of month when all interests earned is credited before u withdraw.
