Is bonus interest capped at $50/month? And just to confirm, bonus interest is the interest generated from the counters?

Thinking of using this account as 'holding account'.

As a safety net, have auto transferred nominal $1 every month to ensure lowest balance is higher than previous month.

If use as 'holding account' and fast in x amount, then fast out same amount by end of month, should not affect bonus counter, correct?

Yes, bonus interest is from the counters.
Max bonus interest rate is 1.2% (at counter 12). Paid on the first $150k of your Maxigain Savings Account. Max bonus interest you can get is more than $50.

She say is only for selected customers who just opened acct not long ago and with low balance.

Anyway, you need to top up to 70K regardless whether got gift or not, if not no base interest. Unless you wanna give up the account and move cash elsewhere.

Thank you. Just transferred to topup to 70k. Decided not to wait till 2 Jan as might not be applicable to me since I did not receive email.

assume MayBank remains at 1.9% for the next 6 months (note: new rates for 2019 not out yet)

by keeping 15k in Citi, the interest "loss" is about $79 over 6 months ... (average of 1.3%, 1.2%, 1.1% ... 0.8% x 15k x 6mths ) compared to MayBank

after 6 mths, Citi is about 2.34%pa or 0.44% more than MayBank every month on 70k or $25 more each month

these are rough calculations but I think it's ok to leave 15k in Citi if u dont have immediate use .. MaxiGain is probably still good over next 24 months, especially if sibor is increasing
Thank you.

Hopefully Shittibank doesn’t shift goalpost again on 70% of SIBOR.

I went to the branch to check a few days ago. The RM told me the "bonus cash reward" is a 1 year time deposit with a promotional interest rate of 2%. Not sure whether it is the same for everyone.
