Don't open account in mrt branch. Heard McDonald House branch is recommended. Interest comes in on first day of the month. I withdraw on the same day.

No need to apologize, the thread is so long, impossible to read through all pages.
This is useful!

Btw, there is referral reward for those who are interested.
You (existing citibank maxigain) receive $100
Your friend joins maxigain by depositing $100,000 or more receives $300

Call to verify.

Deposit $150,000
No withdrawal at all during the 12 months
SIBOR set at 1.7%
Interest $2909
From Citibank MaxiGain Interest Calculator
Effective interest rate 1.93%

How can 2.2% or more be achieved?

Thanks in advance.
that's for the first 12 months = 1.93% pa as shown in the website (not including top up awards, welcome gifts, referral fees if any)

... thereafter, it wld be 1.7%x70% + 1.2% = 2.39%pa

Wow. I am late but late is still better than never. Haha.

Btw since bank is insured to only 50k, do you guys still put up to 150k with Citibank?
Of course that's the risk which you need to consider whether it is reasonable to undertake.

The deposit is guaranteed by SDIC, not by bank. Now guaranteed amount is S$50k. From 1 April will be S$75k

If scared open joint account. Next time 75k per person. 2 person 150k just nice.

But I think the risk of bank failing is lower than relationship of the joint account holder turning sour.

Agree. But cannot have any other account with Citibank, other than this joint account. Also, must withdraw the interest monthly since other amount in excess of S$150k won't be covered by SDIC.

I was told before that there will be a welcome gift of $250. That is not true for MaxiGain account. Wrong information was communicated to me from one of the branches.

To be clear, what should be the right welcome gift for maxigain currently?

If i leave 70k there to accumulate without withdrawing interest, i have to track the instance it crosses 150k and start withdrawing the interest right? If i forget to withdraw then the lowest balance becomes >150k then siao liao?

From last year January 2018 when I opened my maxigain account, a RM at punggol branch told me to refer my wife and open another account to get a referral fee.

The RM proceeded for me and both accounts are opened.

Fast forward now den 2019, no referral fee given at all. Guess that RM over there just wants another account open for his benefit maybe?

I called up citibank in December 2018. They mention will look into it. Few days later another RM called me say maybe now referral fee in cash not possible, give me vouchers instead. He went MIA on me after that call

I called up citibank again in Feb and ask about my issue. After a few days, that same RM emailed me, saying he will try process it.

Now receive a mail that process fail...I replied asking what's the next step then since I was promised a referral fee long ago in Jan 2018. Bo reply..and mia for 2 days.

Damn power.

When want ask people open account, damn fast process..almost immediate. When comes to any promises made by them, can drag a whole year..and still counting.

Salute sia.
