To fill out the CPF answer, you can (if you wish):

* Top up your Special Account up to the Full Retirement Sum;
* Top up your Medisave Account to the Basic Healthcare Sum, provided this top up fits within your CPF Annual Limit;
* Top up all three accounts using CPF Form VC/1 (or electronic equivalent), and this top up must also fit within your CPF Annual Limit;
* Do the same for a spouse/partner, a parent, a child, or really anyone at all who's a CPF member.

If it'd make you feel more comfortable to (possibly) catch a falling knife (i.e. falling stock prices), just divide up your lump sum into 12 equal installments and push those 12 equal installments into the stock market, once per month, over the next year. The fund listed under the symbol IWDA is quite popular.

If you'd like something super safe that should beat inflation a little, the 7 year bond is coming up for auction next month (July, 2018). It'll be issue code NX16100F. You can place a non-competitive bid and can probably buy as much of it as you wish at auction.

Thank you. Awesome, straightforward advice.
