but why so exact and I'm receiving this sms for the first time today when I am ready to open my first hsbc account?

the exact sms is

"HSCBCSG: 02JAN Transfer from xxx xxxxxx account SGD 2,121,19-"

anyway, for opening a premier account, what is the minumum initial deposit and minimum ADB? Their website lists minimum for savings acounts($1000-$2000) and premier lite ($1) only.
"HSCB" ??

No need initial deposit bcos you wont get account on the spot
You just need to fund within 30 days of opening.

forgot to ask, for HSBC premier accounts, will we automatically get a token and internet banking access? I didn't get one when I signed up; will it be mailed to me later?

FYI, latest SSB yields 1.55% for a year. Better than premier rates. I may just park some funds here and keep for a year, no need to cycle here and there. Capped at $50k only per issue.

Thanks for the SSB info.

The latest hsbc promo has 1.5% bonus interest for Premier. There is however a base interest component. For premier which requires $200k, your base interest would have been about 0.07125% for $200k.

This means the effective interest rate is 0.07125 + 1.5 = 1.57125%, higher than what the Feb tranche of SSB 1.55%.

Besides, if u do spend $500 every month, u can get a debit card bonus interest of 0.95% of the 1st 100k, which roughly works out to be about $80 per month.

Base rate is 0.1% for premier? Of course if you have 2 premier accounts to cycle around every 2 months, then you win.

If not, it beats an Advance account holder of 1.45% bonus and 0.025% (base for >$50k). In addition to being Advance/Premier and enjoying the debit benefits, some spare funds can be parked here for no hassle 1 year 1.55%.

Just a discussion anyway. I am still evaluating.

I am just simply pointing out a fact that SSB 1.55% is not better than premier rate, and illustrate it with a numerical example.

As to which product/product combinations best suit one's personal financial circumstances, its one's own judgement and call.

Bomus interest @ 0.73%

for those on oct-dec promo, registering in Feb 2018 the bank should refer to jan 2018 as the reference month if i infer this tnc correctly:

“Relevant Month” means each consecutive calendar month up to 3 months from the date the Eligible Customer signs up for this Promotion, inclusive of the month during which the Eligible Customer signs up for this Promotion.

has anyone called HSBC to confirm?

HSBC also seems to have added remittance as an extra component for additional interest @ 0.73%.
Additional Interest of 0.73% pa
Interesting
Did not get much info from HSBC Webpage:-

Anyone has tried this and could summarise what is required to qualify for this bonus interest?

Thanks

The overseas remittance criteria is not bad. Assuming a fee of $25, you get $60 in interest. Nett earn $35
