They have this overcrowding problem due to "account update" letter.

Haha these days on weekdays you try going to any Bank of China branches and see if empty or super long queue.
BoC at chinatown always queue

Withdraw money in notes no fee/charges (unless you want coin?).

For deposit, not just DBS. UOB & OCBC also have wor.
Just different criteria and whether the bank/staff want to request the paying of fee not.
That day will come when they plead for our money. Good times can afford to be arrogant .... bad times beg for peanuts.

For that amount I'll recommend SSB... The banks usually ask for min. 20K for their good rates

Not all. ICBC step up min only $5000.

And it is step up FD meaning can change your mind and withdraw after each quarter. But later quarters interest higher.

You did not give the maturity instruction when you placed the FD?

Slip through my mind. Even such, charges as such shouldn't be implemented since fd was hold right up to the date of maturity

No issues with icbc / maybank / SBI

Only this particular mat bank!

Went down to the Toa Payoh branch last Saturday for account update. Long queue already form before door open at 9.30 am, mostly middle age and old people. Luckily, don't need to queue for "account update", they have a stuff assign to handle this. Was "invited" to a room to do the update and given a bottle of water. All done within 15 min.

Singapore Savings Bond still better for the given rates. Can withdraw in any month with accrued interest (no early redemption penalty).
