Announcement from DBS/POSB:

"New: Revision of Coin Deposit Fee at Coin Deposit Machine

With effect from 1 November 2013, the coin deposit fee via Coin Deposit Machine will be revised to $0.012 per piece (total fee rounded to the nearest one cent)."

It used to be $0.0075 per piece. More and more not worth the while.

Funny how you can sabo people by depositing 1 cent coins into their account. Depositing $10 worth of 1 cent coins means $2 will be debited from their account.

Feel free to donate $8 to the guy you are "sabo"ing. Isn't that a self-pwn?

It's actually donating the full $10. The $10 goes into the other guy's account but $12 is deducted from the same account, causing him to lose $2.

If that depositor is filthy rich or crazy, then he might just do it. The issue here is there is a way for you to lose money without you being able to do anything about it. Of course the bank may eventually refund you and catch the guy through CCTV, but it's weird that such an exploit exists. The bank should just reject the 1 cent coins.
