I receive a call using no caller ID number soliciting for loan .
Knn.
Legalized methods like registering dnc don't work for them.

Let's start by indentifying forums, websites potentially linked with them. And spam their number on it seeking loan.

The following forum/website can spam and likely to linked with illegal loan shark.

Sammyboyforum.
Porn websites.
Bitcoin spammer ads.
Oversea forex trading scam.
Any mas alert list website

They will send u a Auto generated report and classified it as case open and forever no need bother.

The DNC is like a white elephant in Singapore.

The issue is that spammers pay mobile network operators up to 3 cents per text message for message delivery to a mobile phone. So, for network operators it's a good source of revenue and hence they are not interested in solving this 'problem'. In fact they encourage it by giving out regular promotions to spammers if they send higher volumes of text messages.

Just call up one of the local operators and report the issue - they will not be interested in fixing it. They will recommend however that you fix it by yourself with usually the same advice:

  • Change your mobile phone number
  • File a complaint with the DNC
  • File a complaint with the police

None of course which addresses the root of the problem.

Now, how I tackle the issue: Whenever there is a number that can be called back, I call it back. I engage the other person in a lengthy conversation and waste their time until they give up. Then I call them again. Fastest way to get off their spam list! :D

But you are wasting your time too.

I just Block and report spam the message on my phone.

I am rarely getting spam messages on my phone. Probably 1 or 2 in a month only.

If everybody would waste the spammers time, they would stop with that type of advertising.

Blocking doesn't really help as spammers spoof the so called SenderID (the "from number"). And they have a new SenderID for each new advertising campaign. And reporting it to anybody does not have any impact as network operators and the DNC are both owned by the government, and the government wants the spammers money.

I jus like to remind all that dnc was meant to stop unsolicited call from banks and other legal shops. It was never meant to stop illegal shops becos they have many ways to go round the law. Register of prepaid sim card was meant to detect terror activities. So if the whatapp msg don't have key words like bomb, attack, die... Police will not waste resources. What u can do is ignore and for whatapp don't click the msg becos they can see that this number is active. SMS jus delete.

If your phone number already register with DNC. You can report to them. These so call personal Loan usually leave a number for call back if interested. They can run away anyway.

Also take note Banks has protocol not to use email for communication to prevent spam. So if you have something to deal with bank, always call them to verify or go to the bank.

Link as following:

For personal loan case, they will usually launch a police report as this is not only crossing the DNC line, is also illegal.

That's right. Telco should do the job, not individuals.

I am wondering if it is possible for Telcos to block all calls and sms with numbers starting with +65? These are obviously false numbers originating from overseas.
