Roboadvisor: Stashaway vs Smartly Performance
 

Roboadvisors are new in the market and there is little information online to provide us with reliable information on their performance. As such, I have decided to do a mini experiment on the returns of smartly vs stashaway

Experiment Outline
Lump sum investment of $150 to each account to kick start the investment (25th Jan)
Subsequently, to invest $50/mth into both smartly and stashaway portfolios on every 15th of the month beginning 15th Feb 2018

- Smartly Profile : 5/10
- Stashaway Profile 16 (54.5%/45.5%)

Backtesting Portfolio

Backtesting data from 2014-2019.
Initial contribution = $150
Monthly Top up = $50 (Re balanced Yearly)
Portfolio 1 = Stashaway Higher Risk
Portfolio 2 = Smartly (10)
Portfolio 3 = Autowealth (80/20 portfolio)

should go max 10/10 and 28 for stashaway. your risk set until damn low and with such a small sum, doubt able see much.

True. Then can benchmark with an index fund like IWDA.

Interesting to see how they perform.

He started in January and is now on the fourth month and lose around 0.8%...So what is the issue? I'm interested to see how it perform after a year...So if you lose 0.8% after 3 months, what are you going to do? Sell everything as you expect all investment to make a profit from day one?

Not expecting profit from day one but how better is this robo thing compare to POSB investsaver that put in STI ETF monthly also at 1% or less?

Same time frame? Hold on let me pull my records for Jan to Mar 2018 for POSB Invest Saver...

Jan 2018 - Average price with fees $3.577
Feb 2018 - Average price with fees $3.572
Mar 2018 - Average price with fees $3.626

If anyone were to sell it today, price per unit is $3.487...

So anyone who invested with POSB Invest Saver since January 2018 is down 2.897%...

why not vs autowealth?
i suspect AW will be the "best" amg the trio

Autowealth need $3k to start an account...If the TS wants to equally compare, he need to put in $9k in January to make a fair comparison between the 3 robo-advisors..
