Back injury - PES downgrade

I have sustained a back injury since april, and my appointment to see a specialist at AH orthopaedic is finally coming. Specifically, I think I have lower back sciatic pain, which often causes my left leg to feel numb when standing still for a period of time. Carrying anything over 10kg is beyond my ability to withstand the pain.

I wanted to find out if my condition will qualify me for a PES downgrade and that would be the consequences of the downgrade as a NSman? My major concern will be reservist/IPPT where if I don't have medical proof of my injury, I will be asked to perform heavy physical duty, which my back can definitely not tolerate.

If I can qualify for a PES downgrade, what are the supporting documents that I need and what is the process like? My upcoming appointment is likely just an initial assessment, and any needed scans will be scheduled after that.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Only MO can advise whether can downgrade or not.

When tou see specialist ask the specialist to write a medical memo for you then go for a medical review with the MO.

On a similar topic, I'm in ICT now, can I just visit the MO with my specialist memo for a medical review? Or do I still have to book a medical review appointment online?

since u are in ICT now, you should visit the MO. Why waste time creating an appt online as you might still be required to be physically present to the MO with the memo?
