Asking for a troubled parent.

From cmpb website, they quote that early enlist for below 18yo only if don't intend to further study.

But the parent wants the kid to study ite after ord.

How is MinDEATH supposed to police the 'further study'?

Like as if they can prevent you from going overseas to study?

You (whoever going to enlist can volunteer to enlist at the age of 16.5 year old.

At that age, most likely you are just a GCE N/O (or Private Diploma) graduate or Post Secondary School - Year 1 Student (ITE, Polytechnic, JC).

So if you are not not going to further study, you can just volunteer to enlist earlier or you can carry on your life in Post Secondary School.

Is it very hard for the 'troubled parent' to understand WTF is CMPB talking about?

Yes it's hard to interpret what the government institutions are trying to say.

Here's the excerpt from cmpb:
What you should expect after submitting your VEES application

Each VEES application will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

If you are no longer studying, or have just completed your GCE O or N Level but have no intention of furthering your studies,
you will receive a Further Reporting Order with details to report for registration and medical screening. If we determine that you are suitable to be enlisted before the age of 18 years, you will be enlisted within four to six months after being given a definitive Physical Employment Standards, subject to training capacity.

Anyway they had called ite to confirm.

If he does not understand what the CMPB website is trying to say, why not see it for him and then explain it to TS in simple terms?

Think you are the problem. cause others seem to be able to understand
Not sure why you swiftly think that he is the problem. All I see is he is asking for 2nd opinion/simple explanations for this.

Confirmation from someone in the forum who he/she cannot hold accountable for?
Accountable for what? He is just asking for clearer explanations from different people.

Anyway to answer TS, yes you can go further studies after ORD, ITE is part of education route. I have friend who does this before.

given he didn't acknowledge from my initial reply, i will assume mine is the 2nd opinion and the first opinion is his/her own interpretation.

you were the one suggesting confirmation.

From my understanding, if your kid finish at secondary 4 (N/O level), then he will be 17 years old on the year of his result day. So he might not be called up for 1 year until he reach 18 years old. If he finish at secondary 5, then he will be 18 years old on the year of his result day so he can be called up straight away if he don't intend to further studies.
