SCDF List of Vocations

1) Provost.
The SCDF Provost Unit monitors and investigates any breach of Regulations / Standing Orders. If complaints are proven to be valid, SCDF will take necessary action against the offender(s). AWOL & Etc.

2) Fire Rescue Specialist.
When you become a Fire and Rescue Specialist (FRS), you are skilled in handling a range of firefighting and rescue equipment. You are also a highly motivated leader who is trained in incident management and fire investigation.*You will need to get through RCC to get to this Vocation & you will have way more knowledge then a fire fighter

3) Fire Fighter.
Same as Fire Rescue Specialist, but less knowledge, you will help to put out fire & be in fire station waiting for fire calls.

4) Marine Fire Fighter Specialist.
Marine firefighting specialists are trained to handle chemical, biological and radiological incidents out at sea. To understand what they have to go through, we were presented with different types of suits that they use, depending on the type of hazard to be dealt with. You will spend close to five weeks training at the Home Team Tactical Centre (HTTC) to become marine firefighting specialists. You will be trained in the ORCA.

5) Marine Fire Fighters.
Less advanced then number 4. You will be stationed at either West Coast Marine Fire Station and Brani Marine Fire Station. You have a chance to be in vocation number 4 if selected.

6) Dog Handler.
This course is designed to train nominated personnel to undertake the role of a Search Dog Handler. Participants will be educated on the concepts of search dogs training, and the requisite skills and knowledge to provide care and maintenance for search dogs. By the end of the course, participants should be adequately equipped to develop a competent & confident working relationship to work dogs. The dogs will be trained to sniff out drugs & smell gas leaks & help out CNB.

7) EMT.
Selected fire-fighters in SCDF will be trained under Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) scheme. This will give them the capabilities to provide initial medical aid to casualties until the arrival of paramedics during emergencies. Same as EMS, part of EMS.

8) Community Engagement Specialist.
Once you pass your CEPP test & your HTFAC Medical test you will be helping with the Community Safety and Security Programme (CSSP) is an example of community self-help and partnership between the community, the grassroots, the partner agencies and the Home Team to make Singapore Safe and secure. CSSP provides a platform for the grassroots and residents to work together with the Home Team and other relevant agencies to tackle issues and problems affecting the local neighbourhood. Some of these programmes include the Citizens on Patrol and the Neighbourhood Watch Zones.

9) InfoComms.
Infocomm operators specialise in ensuring the SCDF’s communications network functions smoothly. You will support the integrated Advanced Command and Control, Communications (C3) Enhanced System (ACES) by operating various C3 systems for effective command and control on the incident ground. Infocomm operators leverage on advanced communication technologies and systems to support the daily operations of the Force. You should have the aptitude to pick up technical skills, and information and knowledge on IT systems. You must be keen to learn about networks, electronics, and communications, and preferably have a strong IT background.

10) Driver or Transport.
The primary role of a driver in the Service Support Unit (SSU) of each Division or Unit is to plan and provide transport support to the SCDF. Drivers undergo training to handle different classes of vehicles in the
SCDF. As a driver, you will play an essential role in ensuring that SCDF personnel and equipment arrive in a safe and timely manner to support SCDF operations. You will undergo a Class 3 Driving Course and a Class 4 Restricted Driving License Course to learn to drive motor cars and heavy vehicles respectively. You will learn to take care of vehicles, and acquire basic vehicle maintenance skills and knowledge on the workings of the vehicles.

11) Admin Support.
As a Technical Support Officer, you will assist Engineers in conducting feasibility studies & system administration. Every trainee will undergo a course to become a qualified supply assistant. The course will cover administrative management, material management, and maintenance management in both peacetime & operations. We may also select you to attend specialised logistics-related courses and other courses related to your appointment. For example, you may attend a forklift course accredited under the Singapore Workforce Skills
Qualifications system.

12) Storeman.
The primary role of a storeman in the SSU of each Division or Unit is to plan and provide supply and store support in the SCDF. As a storeman, you will support SCDF units and personnel with necessary equipment & materials in a timely manner, so that operations can be carried out effectively. You will undergo a Storeman Course in which you will learn the duties and responsibilities of a storeman and acquire skills and knowledge on logistics planning, stock taking, and the condemnation of lost or damaged store items.
