dunno why i can't seems to achieve high wifi speed with my starhub 1gbps fibre and orbi 50. I have manually set my 2.4ghz and 5ghz channel to be different from my neighbours liao.

my house is a maisonette. Main at 1st floor, satellite at 2nd floor.

can only get max 200 mbps (avg 150+) on my laptop.

will daisy chain improve the wifi speed? or are there other ways?

Sometime it’s the telco problem, last night wifi extremely bad, could only get less than 100 despite restarting orbi twice, normally I can get 300-400

What is your wired speed?

Starhub 1gbps fibre can go below 500 mbps at time.

Some of the rbk50 sets have got this issue.

After awhile the speed will drop drastically. You need to perform a hard reset. Anytime u try to restart the router the speed suffer and have to repeat the reset

Do let us know whether you get to use the full set of wireless channels in Singapore or the sets are restricted to just the channels allowed in the us.

How are far apart are the mesh units ? If they are too far, speeds on the 2nd unit will be affected. Are you also getting slow speeds from the base unit too ?

From first floor living room to my second floor bedroom is about 10-15m?

Ya when I connect to the Orbi router itself it’s the same speed as the satellite.

I’m also making sure I connect to the 5ghz channel for better speed. Still it’s always below 200mbps.

Killer 1435. Im v certain it’s not my laptop issue. I have a note 9 and iPhone XS Max and they also gotten similar speed test result.

All my devices are considered new and not low tier.

Try changing to 3rd party DNS, might improve slightly.

If all your devices are getting slow speeds, you might want to check speed test on the Orbi itself. You can use the orbi app to test. The

When I first installed my orbi, I was getting relatively slow speeds as well, 100-200mbps. Then realised my lan cable was cat 5 causing the slowness. Changed the lan cable and speeds are now 300-450 mbps (on Singtel 500 mbps)

the thing with orbi app speed test is that it seems to show high dl speed result. but when i try ookla speed test app itself and browser speed test, the result has huge discrepancy.

i have doubts that orbi speed test app is accurate. my cables are all cat 6.

The built-in speedtest is to test speed from Orbi Router to Speedtest server (dunno which one), it is wire speed.

If you test from mobile app, it is wireless speed.

So u r saying phone -> orbi app -> speed test result is based on wired speed?:s11:

sian man. i tried switching off satellite. use router only to test wifi speed also 200 max nia. something is wrong with my orbi router's wifi speed. wired speed is fast.:(

i've even factory reset twice. no difference.

Yes orbi app gives unrealistically high mbps
But if u can do 400-500 should be ok for 1gbps plan.
