if you're a student can look at these also; not sure how much is the student discount tho but should be around 15%

https://www.dell.com/learn/sg/en/sgdhs1/campaigns/student-purchase-program-sg
Checked with Dell customer service, they give me 2 Dell Inspiron 14 5000 (5480) with different configuration:

$1199
- 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8565U Processor (8MB Cache, up to 4.6 GHz)
- Windows 10 Home (64 bit) English
- 8GB, 8GBx1, DDR4, 2666MHz
- 128GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive + 1TB 5400 rpm 2.5" SATA Hard Drive
- 14.0-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-glare LED Backlight Non-touch Narrow Border IPS Display
- NVIDIA® GeForce® MX150 with 2GB GDDR5 graphics memory

$999
- 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-8265U Processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.9 GHz)
- Windows 10 Home (64bit) English
- 8GB, 1x8GB, DDR4, 2666MHz
- 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive
- 14.0-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-glare LED Backlight Non-touch Narrow Border IPS Display
- Intel® UHD Graphics 620 with shared graphics memory

My purpose is only for work and study, so I will multitask by opening many different applications and Google Chrome tabs. May I know which one will be better to get? Thanks again :)

Haha why i can't use the STUDENT code?

u need to sign up for a student account with your school email

it comes with discrete gpu also, but not much use cos u mentioned that u dont play games

but i think this is better than dell's

the processor is amd

it's cheaper and more value for money IF battery life is not important

the average battery for the model is about 3-4hours
So essentially Ideapad S340 (15) > ThinkPad E495 if battery life is important
ThinkPad E495 > Ideapad S340 (15) if battery is not important
Other specs are more or less the same and doesnt make much diff right?

essentially yes.

some say ThinkPad is more durable than Ideapad too cos the latter is a budget build

Bought an XPS from the official Dell Refurbished outlet. It was sooo much cheaper than the brand new.

I believe they have student discounts now as well. You should definitely try and get a latitude for their build quality and performance.

Maybe something like this. Just slightly above SGD1k but I think it comes with 3 years on site service with parts replacement just like the xps I got. Hope this helps :)

try to go for AMD over Intel if security is important to you, otherwise Intel for better battery life

Sent from Sony Z4 using GAGT

I would remove acer from the list.

They are affordable but reliability is an issue
