Post How to update AMD Mobile Ryzen Driver (GPU & Chipset) Win 10 only

Note: Prior before updating the driver, disconnect any active
internet connection. This is to ensure that Windows does
not install or update the driver when you are performing
a standalone install.

Simply active airplane mode on Windows 10.
Issue may arise or worse driver maybe corrupted when Windows
and user install at the same time.

AMD have just release drivers for AMD Mobile Ryzen.
With such move, Intel laptop especially those with Intel HD IGP
will face tough competitor.

Since the IGP itself will be able to handle games without a need
for discrete graphics which Intel laptop usually need.
I have been using AMD Notebooks since AMD Phenom II era.
Take note on hand I do not have a AMD Ryzen laptop so
I just share what I know from my own experience.

AMD Mobile Chipset

AMD Ryzen™ and Athlon™ Mobile (Chipset) Drivers & Support

Unlike Intel laptop, there are a lot of driver to install.
Like Chipset, Management Engine and etc.
AMD wise very simple, the only key component are:
- SMBus driver - This is driver to control the clock speed
- AHCI Driver - For laptop SATA drive using SATA AHCI.
NVME wise you may need the driver from the NVME SSD manufacturer.

With the two key component the AMD NB will be able to perform properly
especially SATA drives.
I am not sure what other component the driver will include so
anyone have install do kindly share.

Select the AMD Mobile Ryzen model your laptop have.

Know issues
  • Mouse lag or system slowdown is observed for extended periods of time with two or more displays connected and one display switched off.
  • Changes made in Radeon WattMan settings via Radeon Overlay may sometimes not save or take effect once Radeon Overlay is closed.
  • Some Mobile or Hybrid Graphics system configurations may intermittently experience green flicker when moving the mouse over YouTube™ videos in Chrome web browser. A work around if this occurs is to disable hardware acceleration.
  • Radeon WattMan settings changes may intermittently not apply on AMD Radeon VII.
  • Performance metrics overlay and Radeon WattMan gauges may experience inaccurate fluctuating readings on AMD Radeon VII.
GPU driver wise is straight forward, the GPU driver and the HDMI audio driver as well as the Catalyst software component that is about it.
Just ensure after install the display adapter should
indicate mobile graphics at the end of the adapter name.

If desktop version is installed, the only issue would be battery/power consumption.

That is it, enjoy your Ryzen noteook with updated driver.
Anything feel free to discuss or share.
Switchable Ryzen notebooks I do not know whether can the driver
be updated or not.

Example of laptops like Acer Nitro 5, Asus X570UD and etc.
Laptop like Asus FX505DY should already come with newer driver
since it is using AMD Ryzen 3 series.
