Looking to get the dell xps 15 with graphics card but the price is way above other brand laptops with the same specs. Is the dell xps worth the premium price and do they last longer than other laptops?

battery health 45% after 14 months

Hi,

My Dell XPS 13 battery health is just 45% after 14 months of useage. The battery lasts about 3 hours in battery saving mode.

a) is this acceptable? I am out of warranty but should this be covered still?

b) If I have to pay for a new battery myself, is it better to get a shop to replace it and is there a particular battery I can buy which will give me better life.

I've never managed to get more than 5 hours of the laptop even when I've tweaked the power saving mode.

Thanks!

I doubt Dell would replace the battery free of charge as it is put of warranty. My xps 13 gives around 9 hrs on battery saving mode. You should have contacted them when your laptop was in warranty. Your battery backup is quite bad.

You can try to check with them if they do provide free service in your case.

If you are comfortable to open your laptop and replace battery yourself, go ahead. There are lots of tutorials online. Make sure you get the genuine battery. Don't take the risk with cheaper or fake ones

hi all,

i've been researching for my first ever laptop and i think i'm pretty much decided on the xps 13 but which variant to get? i'll be doing mainly basic stuffs and heavy on photo editing like on the photoshop and lightroom. i don't think i'll be playing any AAA games that sorts and basically would be using an external monitor for my setup at home. don't think i'll be bring this laptop out alot but there might be some rare occasion that i do.

would appreciate some recommendations. thank you!

Linux on XPS

Anybody running Ubuntu on the XPS? Any idea if the XPS 13 Developer Edition is coming to Singapore?

When watching YouTube videos in fullscreen, anyone encountered freezing for abt 10 seconds? Happening more frequently to my xps13 recently, getting annoying.

Sent from Samsung SM-G955F using GAGT

I'm waiting for the 9370 model to arrive, and hopefully the Ubuntu Developer Edition as well.

Hi all!

Interested in getting the xps 13 9730 low end version.

I dont mind purchase on dell website as i have no choice.

Anybody can advise where to touch them and play around before i purchase?

And based on web is around we dont have the white and rose version. Im okay with black and silver. And how much you guys paid for yours?

I was checking on US web and SG web. Price 25% difference.

Sorry if i make a fuss here. but just sharing.

How's the display lag? I see some reviews noting the cursor lag due to the display refresh being so slow. Yet some other reviews gloss over it

Don't have this issue. Issue should be the fan noise. Somehow there has been issue of fan spinning fast when just doing normal tasks.

I dunno why also but excel 2016 feels sluggish compared to my work laptop's excel 2013.
