hi guys, is anyone from or knows anyone in chemical engineering?
I applied this year with grades of AAB/B+ AB. UAS 85 which barely meets the requirements.. so I have to worry about getting a place..

the other thing I'm concerned about is the GPA bit. I've seen many people saying that chem engi is one of the toughest courses and getting an A is freaking hard. how true is that? I don't wanna let this stop me from doing what I would possibly enjoy..

I also applied for aerospace engi (think it's quite difficult to get in) and accountancy so it would be quite sad if I end up going for a boring course which I've heard many people complaining about after they graduate and start their FIRST year of work.
join and live to regret

Don't enrol into Chemical/Aerospace Eng. It's not worth competing with all the muggers in Chem/Aero engineering just to get a 2nd upper. Apply for Mech Eng, and it'll be much easier to get a 2nd upper, or even aim for 1st class.

With a Mech Eng degree and good honors, it's possible to apply for jobs in MNCs like Shell, Exxon, Rolls-Royce, Pratt&Whitney. But if you really want to specialise in the oil & gas field, then you can try applying for Chemical Eng.

Don't make the mistake of aiming for a prestigious course just because of well, the prestige. It's not worth losing your social life to get good grades in super competitive courses. In the end, it's the grade of honors that count when you apply for your first job.

Fully agree. But as a side note, Mech Eng is not that simple either in terms of content. But the cohort is huge and most don't have the mugger mentality so if you are the mugger type, it might work in your favour if you are just aiming for good honours.

Yeah that's my point. Especially if you want to apply for Govt jobs, they'll pick a mech eng 1st class over a aero/chem eng 2nd upper.

People may not agree initially, but you'll realize the reality of things after 2 years in the course, or after doing IA. By then it's too late to switch.

cuz ft + sinkie means both person will +2 points. he specifically looking for 11-15 because the difference in points between both persons cannot be more than 2 to enjoy this "benefit".
