(SUGGESTION) Differential between SUSPENDED and BAN

It ish very common and frequent to see ppl in the forum, especially EDMW kena "BAN" for violating certain rules and regulations or their so called ntuc points exceeded the limit.

AFAIK, The BAN can last for a few days to a month or so but after that period, they will allowed back to post again.

I think we should use the word "SUSPENDED" instead of "BAN" on those ppl cos the depriving of posting ish only on a short term.

"BAN" will apply to ppl who's ac (nick) will never be allowed to post any more.

admins, what say you ?

The 'suspended' status has been taken. There is such a status but not for the intended purpose you suggested. That one is mainly for commercial accounts who does buying/selling.

Then instead of Banned, make it T-Banned. Temporarily Banned.

While the suggestions all seem feasible, I really don’t see a need to make any modifications to the current “banned” status.

Why is there a need to differentiate between a user who is only temporarily banned, permanently banned or as mentioned also, suspended.

Just my 2 cents though

Some accounts are also permanently banned but somehow their post count is intact, not sure why leh lol

moi raised this query becos came across many times EDMWers ask in their post whether the guy who kena banned ish "T-ban" or "P-ban".

with the word "suspended", the intention ish crystal clear.

IIRC, suspended means that the account may be able to login but will have read only access. Cannot post, edit or reply.

This is a technical thing, if want to change the whole forum code may need to be overhauled to accomodate.

A ban is a ban, it just means the user will get a message that he is banned and logged out immediately.

But it would be good to create a new status for permanently banned users so that we can keep a watchlist for potential clone accounts =)

Maybe call the status "Exiled" or "Bannished"
