Im a noob here.. im thinking of keep some shrimp but duno what kind of breed usually ppl keep.. can give advise?

and how do i maintain it in a small tank
can start with cherry red shrimp.
very easy to keep.

and best is you can get a as big a tank as your budget and space can permit if possible cos the smaller the tank, the more difficult it is to keep fish and shrimp.
mini I suggest is a 2x1x1 ft tank.

lousy diffuser sure less than $2. this one $1.50.

bubbles not fine enough, very fast clog.
Right and wrong.

Right. Its lousy. Wrong, not becoz of bubbles but becoz overtime the entire diffuser will break up.

When you see my diffuser, they are like one red note or so. Not cheap not expensive, not branded.

So! Experience it yourself....ha ha...thats what the journey is about.

if possible, try to buy from local fellow hobbyists.
first, its way cheaper and 2nd, the shrimps are used to our local water.

if not, buy from LFS.

1ft keeping shrimp is reasonable. As in I done that too. Running either Single Fan (min.) or Twin Fans using evaportation, airstone, to reduce tank temperature.

The light you select should not be too heaty, else the shrimp cannot multiply if too hot. Plenty of plants, stones should be inclusive, so the shrimps can wonder around and even hide themselves.

This type one isn't for aquarium but meant for confined space agriculture.

A proper CO2 Setup is done with pressured cylinder. You need to friend friend the shop keeper and he/she will guide you through the stuffs needed.

Electronic can and may burn out. So again, usage experience counts I am not going to say too much at this point.

If you just buy, then at least know who is going to be your "top up" supplier. When the tank is empty you bring back to top up. So either you have one tank or two tank. 2L or 3L or 5L type up to you.

So how many different type of CO2 setup out there?

1. Cylinder Setup.
This is done with proper bubble counter, regulator (manual/electronic), diffuser.

2. DIY Setup
A 1.5L bottle is being used, some are only 1L which uses ready powder mix. In this setup, only bubble counter and diffuser is being used. DIY mix will be concentrated sugar solution + Yeast powder (baking)

3. CO2 Tablet
CO2 exist in tablet forms, slowly ease itself inside the aquarium water.

4. Electronic CO2 injection.
A CO2 tablet square shape is being inserted into the Electronic control box. from the box, you need to run power, one tube is inserted into the tank with diffuser. Controls are on the box itself so no regulators.
