Woo, it's Saturday!
Water changing day, always looking forward to water changing as i feel good especially wife and child go to mother in law's house. No one at home, can slowly clean the tank and change water... Relaxation max.

Thanks, but seem the steps you take to replace "no water change" seems like a lot hahaha. Then I better stick to change water weekly. Thank anyway

Thanks for the tips, I shall look out for this fishes

I'm not sure actually. I bought from a seller a carousel, and I ask him, he also say, he not sure. Yes I'm starting the plant carpet from seeds. I also worry about bacteria cannot kick start. Heard that is best to use used filters cause it contains loads of good bacteria, but I can't find many people sell though

Reagrding growing carpet plant from seeds, i got kind of bad news for you. Those carpet from seeds are not meant to be under water 24/7. The carpet plant will slowly float to the surface 1 by 1 after you flood the tank. You better plant some real carpet plant like HC etc...

Regarding jump start filter with beneficial bacteria, you can just ask for someone sponge filter, squeeze the "black gold" which are fish poop and bacteria from the sponge into aged tank water and bring home. Throw the dirty water into your tank and your tank is now "cycled".

My tank coming in comes with iron stand, how to make it into a cabinet or at least cover nicely so that I can put a sump tank down there?

Or is there a place I can buy the cabinet only?

if on budget, just cover with corrugated board... done nicely and it looks good

Nice thread! Has anybody seen any sailfin mollies around? Have only seen the orange and white ones in lfs, but haven't seen them around for a long time. Simply love it when they flare their dorsal fins at each other.

Yes.
Our tap water consists of chlorine and chloromine. Those few dollars a bottle type don't buy.
Seachem prime (solution) or seachem safe (powder) are the most common brands.
Of course there's Baxter, wizz, API stresscoat and/or AquaScience, etc...
I'm personally using AquaScience (powder in 10kg carton). More economical because I've alot of fishes...

You dont need air pump if you are using the overhead sump. The overhead sump / filter built into the hood is enough for a light bioload.

What is the pump flow rate? Should aim to cycle total tank volume at least 5 times or more per hour.

Remember to put a mechanical filter before the water hit the bio media.

Use enough biomedia to meet your stocking level. Actually, the more the merrier.
Biomedia is the sponge right? What is mechanicalnfilter? Thanks
