Hello all,

I am new to this hobby.

I have a few puffers and also a beta.

I'm trying to keep a snail farm for my two small dwarf puffers. My farm isn't doing too well

Anyone has any pest snails I can buy from to introduce a new colony?
u have a seperate tank for snail?

Sorry to hijack this thread. But I just hope that someone can help.

Just now I went to the fish farm at pasir Ris farmway, opposite the Ericsson pet farm and was shocked that they have all moved out.

Any kind souls to advise where have they been relocated to?

My tank coming in comes with iron stand, how to make it into a cabinet or at least cover nicely so that I can put a sump tank down there?

Or is there a place I can buy the cabinet only?
Use plywood or corrugated board, glue magnets to them, attach to stand.

Yes.
Our tap water consists of chlorine and chloromine. Those few dollars a bottle type don't buy.
Seachem prime (solution) or seachem safe (powder) are the most common brands.
Of course there's Baxter, wizz, API stresscoat and/or AquaScience, etc...
I'm personally using AquaScience (powder in 10kg carton). More economical because I've alot of fishes...
Cheap de chlorination solution dont remove chloramine. Chloramine can still kill your fish and plants etc.

Make sure bottle say treat both chlorine and chloramine.

Buy the powder form which works the exact same way but much cheaper.

Or age your water for 4 days to a week before using. I use age water mostly. Only during emergency then i use de chlorination solution.

HC, Hemiantus Callitrichoides also call dwarf baby tears or H. Cuba. Need high light and CO2.

You can try easier carpet plant like dwarf saggitaria.

Dwarf hair grass

Glosso

Please do research before planting. Else you will be wasting time, energy and effort.

the picture is not wrong.
Canister filter all like that.
Cos the canister will have reduce flow/clog in 1 week.

If go by the normal sequence.
So by reversing the interval to open and wash is stretched apart.

take a look OASE biomaster
HUH? it's wrong carbon> sinterglass rings> sponge

it will choke up the sinterglass rings quickly...

Sponge suppose to remove particles
Bio media grow BB to ammonia> nitrites> nitrates
Carbon remove chemicals

Biomedia is the sponge right? What is mechanicalnfilter? Thanks
Mechanical filter also call filter floss or filter wool. They are sheets of loose white cotton looking fibre material. See pic below.

Bio media are places for bacteria to live in. They are usuallu ceramic rings, plastic balls, lava rocks or even pot scrubber. See pic below.

Sponge can function as either mechanical or bio media depending on location of sponge in the filtration setup and the size of pores on sponge.

Then what snails you rearing for the puffer? Try pond snails or ramshorn snails and then just spam food and change water every few days.

The flow in the canister is green (in) blue (out). Simply flowing from bottom to the top.

Yah the picture has the arrangement in the wrong order. Probably just a bad illustration. But some canister has water flowing in from top and out from bottom so probably the reason for the mistake.

Proper arrangement for bottom to top flow should look like this:
