i understand CFA require you to have either 4 years of working experience or 4 years of education + working experience.

is it very strict on the kind of 4 years working experience you have? eg, must it be within a bank? and if within a bank, any specifics?

Hi, I am going to be a uni year 3 student, graduating in 2014. Is it ok for me to register for the CFA 1 exam this year?
Is there any way to just register for the exam but not any courses or programs???

Is CFA institute the only way to register for the exam?

Please help!

Yes, it must be in finance. Even teaching in university is okay. You list your experience and let the cfa institute decide

Yes, you can register for l1 exam.

Yes, you can choose to self study. But purchase of ebook or hard copy book is compulsory.

I think cfa institute is the only way to register. I do not know whether service provider like Kaplan will register on your behalf or not

7city are good CFA trainers, was very impressed with their lecturers and they have their own notes which were very helpful!
Plus they got tablet which was very useful , you can study literally anywhere!

Anyone holding on to texas ba ii (not texas ba ii plus)

Can you turn to the back of your calculator and tell me how many screws are there? The reason is I unscrew 4 screw to change battery but failed. There is something in the middle and I dunno whether that one is a screw or not (or is the middle screw corroded?)

4 screws. insert a flat tip screwdriver into the gap and lever it to open. do it all round the sides of the calculator and loosen first.

Thanks. It damn difficult to open. I remember reading one story about a guy changing battery during cfa exam and cutting himself deeply. His whole paper is filled with bloodstain

Self Study Better

Completed prep course with CFA Singapore. Even though subsidized by MAS, I recommend self study. One Econs lecturer not even teaching to the syllabus. Teach topics that are not in the course, topics in the course not taught. In short, waste time. Never even go through example questions, just read from the slides.

CFA Singapore will also tell you that MAS will only refund the subsidy if you pass the exam after this year. FYI.
