Hello, I am currently deciding on which mba to take. Does anyone recommend ntu/nus/smu/Manchester? Is Manchester mba well recognised among companies in singapore? My main purpose is to do a career switch from engineering to business side. so was wondering for any advice you can give for any of those 4. Thanks in advance

Need some advice, kind of unique situation

Am looking to take a masters in Marketing, traditional disciplines or newer digital marketing are both fine with me

I've worked on and off about 8 years in my industry (gaming), with more focus on marketing recently. In mid management now and since I'm already at the peak in my current company, only way up is to work for a different company.

My current focus is in User Acquisition in tech and Digital Marketing.

My highest qualification is actually just a advance diploma which isn't really recognize. If locally recognized qualifications mine is probably PSLE

Not sure what kind of Masters programmes are open to me, will be paying it myself, not company sponsored.

Just decided to improve now cause I don't have too much commitments yet and my current pay allows me flexibility

Hi,

You can explore those programs with mature student entry. In such program, you will take 2-3 modules first and you have to pass it before you are allowed to be admitted as a full candidate. One such school is Heriot Watt University. You can take a look at their MBA program (they do not have marketing program on offer directly though).

Alternatively, you would have to check private educational institutions. Just call up the consultants and I am sure that they will find ways to help you bridge the gaps you are facing now.

Of course, my concern might be the challenges posed after enrolling into the program. Hope you can cope with it.

Shortlisting MBA

Hi guys recently the MBA offered by Coventry is only 15k after some subsidy they give

https://www.psb-academy.edu.sg/coven...-business#fees

Is it worth it? I am also considering the Masters of Management programme from SUSS

https://www.suss.edu.sg/programmes/d...anagement-mmgt

Both are around same course fee. As I was an alumni from SUSS I get to have around 50% course concession fee, however I am not sure if it is good on my resume to have the SUSS name for both bachelor and masters column.

Can any bro shed some light? Thanks

Can you elaborate on the challenges? Would like to understand more before committing

Heriot Watt MBA used to be offered under EASB. I remembered visiting the school to find out more enquiries about it.

Now they offer it directly online... and anyway, Heriot Watt MBA program back then do not need a tuition provider as you can sign up and do it on your own...

I think the bigger challenge through such route might be taking the exam... and completing the assignments...

Personally, I have seen some of my recent classmates who come back to school after working in industry for a while may struggle in essay writing especially if it is their first semester ...

Of course, these challenges may not apply to everyone...

Hi MuggerX,

I'm an NTU MSc postgraduate and currently taking the CU MBA in Global Business and have completed a few modules. I've always wondered how a business operates and what kind of thought processes management use when making decisions.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, PSB Academy was initially delivering the modules online. We're back to having on-campus classes now, although the option to attend classes online is still available.

In my experience so far, the lecturers are part-time and focus on giving lectures while augmenting with their own corporate experience - lacking in facilitating student sharing and discussions expected in "traditional" MBA sessions.
It could be difficult since social distancing is still required in class and some students do take the option to attend classes online.

Assignments have mostly been individual academic/business report writing. Again, COVID-19 may be a reason for this.

I'm considering to withdraw from the program.
I feel that it doesn't meet my expectations and I didn't have a plan of action - I don't know how I'd use the MBA to help me in achieving my career goals and aspirations.

It may be useful to know that there are a few fall-back awards for this program:
  • 60 credits - Postgraduate Certificate
  • 120 credits - Postgraduate Diploma
  • 180 credits - Master of Business Administration

Thank you Frederick. I have decided to not enroll for this MBA as well. Figured that it would probably be the only MBA that I would take throughout my career, it would be wiser to take a more prestigious one.

Was considering between Birmingham,Strathclyde and Manchester.

Manchester being the most expensive out of the 3. Strathclyde and Birmingham is more affordable at 37k.

Anyone have experience studying at dimension college?
