Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018)

Anyone looking forward to this?
I am currently using A8 (2018), not sure if it makes any sense to change to A7 (2018).

Full specs here.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) .... I am waiting !!!

Advancer 11-10-2018 04:35 PM

So far no news, looks like Samsung don't intend to launch it in SG.

kiwihow 15-10-2018 03:19 PM

now start pre order in Malaysia and the price is 1299myr..

Jurong640 17-10-2018 08:06 AM

The a7 and a9 they had a media launch event in KL. More likely they will launch in Malaysia first. But then, A7 still uses micro-USB, that's not good

My A7 2017 has Type-C, only A9 Pro 2016 is microUSB.

Strange that A7 2018 would change back to microUSB. :s22:

Yeah , 2017 has type c. Somehow rather they want to push people to buy A9 instead, but you see A9 has fingerprint at the back, while A7 is at the side.

Advancer 17-10-2018 02:58 PM

not sure if the A7 will be launched here.

Guess samsung is trying to keep the cost low for this model by using usb-b.
My guess is RRP S$498 if launched in SG which is a lot lower than RRP of A8 at $648 when it was launched early this year.

They show A9 but not A7 so my guess is that they not launching A7 in SG

The Galaxy A9 looks good, hope the pricing won't be too high.

No fast charging and ip rating, hence the low price.
But with NFC and FHD amoled, i think the price is a winner.

Don't think its so lousy lah, just that in general android phone prices will drop 20 to 30% a few months after launch.

Specs wise very similar to my A8 which i have been using well since Feb this year, minus the notification light and usb-c port only.
And i got the A8 for $539 loh.

I will take A7 now...

Pros against 3i
Wifi connectivity will be better for A7 as it's dual band vs nova 3i which is just 2.4Ghz
SD Card A7 can take up to 512GB vs 256GB for 3i
Bluetooth 5.0 vs 4.2
Better Camera (on paper, not sure in real life)
Can put 2 sims + SD card (dedicated SD card slot)
Super AMOLED vs LCD

Cons against 3i
Slightly bigger screen than A7
Running Oreo 8.1 vs 8.0 for A7
Rear Fingerprint sensor vs Side Sensor for A7
Got sexy Notch (subjective, some like some dont')

Feel free to add the pros and cons

Papermate 31-10-2018 02:14 PM

5 years ago, phone manufacturers tested the market to see if consumers were receptive to the phablet or not. They were not. But now, it seems that consumers are wanting to buy phablets?

immortal86 31-10-2018 10:25 PM

damn it dont even have qc 2... using s7e now, used to faster charging.

dunno should change to this or not, coz like its dedicated micro sd and side finger print.

Why is the quick charging so important?
Charge overnight good enough isn't it?

immortal86 31-10-2018 11:41 PM

oh coz i dont put my phone to overnight charging.. and sometime in a rush fast charge is valuable to me

Advancer 01-11-2018 09:26 AM

anyone seen this phone on display anywhere yet?
I only encounter it last week at galaxy roadshow at compass one but didnt really play with it as i was playing with the A9 instead.

No IP rating, not big deal perhaps
? fast charge, most prob not
No usb c, not that big deal I guess

I'm also using a S7e, with the infamous thick irritating pink lines now
So need to change. Not keen for flag ships, think a good midranger would do.

Was looking at the A8 star/A8, but the new A7 is excellent value for 428-150
Only negative point in my view is the lack of fast charge. Oh well...

May I ask where you got this information? The Lazada page and also Samsung's own website doesn't say the chipset.

I also realise it's not a direct discount, so it's only worth it if you have something else worth >$150 you intend to spend on.

There are no notification lights as well.
But for this price plan, it's fantastic given that even one year ago, you can't get this type of features on a mid-range phone...

I wonder if it'll be coming to the local telcos with contract?

Apparently yes, per article below.

https://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech...7-a9-j6-and-j4

"The A7 will be available in Pink, Blue, and Black on 10th November for S$428 from all local telecos, major consumer electronics & IT stores, authorized mobile retailers, Samsung Experience Stores and Lazada.sg."

This $428 is retail price right? I assume price with contract will be slightly cheaper? :)

SMARTDODO 02-11-2018 11:49 PM

Does the A7 (2018) support MST in Samsung Pay, or will it be Samsung Pay Mini (NFC only)?

Just sharing.
I just pre-order the phone from lazada using passion card promo $30.
It works. My bill $398. Plus 150 lazada vouchers, pretty good deal.
