Few question on rooting.
If i were to root, can i unroot back?

Whats the benefit of rooting? Is it same like iPhone whereby can get free stuff from market instead of buying, pimping themes and such?

If i were to root, will all my apps/sms/pictures and etc lost?

What important measure to do before rooting?

There are 2 kinds of root. One temporary and one permanent. But lately, temporary root cannot work on the newer firmware anymore. Temporary rooting can be reversed by running the root program again or by upgrading fw. Do take note that u might not be able to root agin in future if u regret.

There are many benefits in rooting. To name a few, u can access the files preinstalled by your service provider and delete them to free space. U can install adfree app to be adfree, self explainary.haha. U can use other roms instead of Samsung one.there are lots of things u can do, do a google.

Nothing will be lost while rooting. But it's better to backup before u do so.make sure your phone is fully charged just in case.thats all.

To add on, with root, you can perform a complete backup of your phone in its current state, complete backup of apps with their settings, uninstall or freeze unnecessary apps, and perform root-only system customisation like battery icon mod.. And the list goes on.

@progene: if you don't mind can you provide me the link to your rooting recommendation for 2.3.6.

I was on 2.3.5 when I root... accidently updated to 2.3.6 and Whaa having a hard time thinking should root now or wait for ICS to come out first...

Thanks in advance!

Previosuly when I root. I was on 2.3.5 with a different kernel.

After I updated it ... the rooting for 2.3.6 is totally different as the kernel has been updated with security protection.

Yes Right now ... my unit has become a unrooted set and same version as yours.
