I forgot. It has unfamiliar name. So i went to google it and found some ppl in xda also complaining battery drain caused by this process after updating Samsung App...

Edit: btw I'm not talking about a particular app I downloaded. It was THE Samsung App app that comes pre-installed in your phone. After updating that app to the latest, the batt drain occurred...
hmmm

does the app in front starts with "samsung" ??

Think it's the display issue on black background.

Just compared my Note to my friend's, and a shop display set. Mine has _terrible_ banding.

What has been seen cannot be unseen... jin emo
Here's my set... notice the gigantic rings in the calculator display area.

The other 2 sets I saw also had banding, but the bands are _much_ thinner and more in number - not gigantic rings like mine.

sigh.

See my post again, the big picture is up now. I'm referring to the big blob of white, the thick blue-green ring, and the thin dark blue ring.

On the other 2 sets, the all rings are about the same thickness as the thin dark blue ring, and there are many more of them.

I thought it was normal too, until I started comparing with other sets...

It only appear in the calculator app so it is not so big a deal. My note also have it. Have you ever seen it elsewhere? No right? So why emo when it is software specific? It could even be part of the design! :p

So I seriously don't understand why people gets upset about this banding 'issue', in one calculator app, when the rest is fine. I've read some even went to exchange their sets after reading about this and checking their calculator app.

Exactly. Software specific. Been using my note for a month. Only seen it there. So don't understand why people regard it as an issue which is ridiculous.

And how you know it is software? You don't see banding in your notification bar right? And rotate your note to landscape in calculator. The banding follows the rotation. You can also confirm this by hiding the keys in landscape mode. You will see a banding box above the arrow keys, and which is a partial copy of the banding background picture.

Could be the version. The banding is much bigger after I upgraded to LA1. If it is a display issue, it would be seen everywhere.

I picked calculator coz it's easy to replicate and it's installed in every Note.

I do notice in games (eg. shadowgun) that the color palette is much more dull compared with my other IPS LCD phone especially in darker scenes, and blocky banding pops up every now and then.
In darker videos, the blocky banding is bad enough to be detract from the enjoyment.

Think about it:
In calculator, my phone renders a bunch of colors as one block - won't it do the same in other cases where the colors displayed are darker?
Does it make sense for only calculator app to be affected?

Anyway, here's my friend set for reference. Not taken using the same camera, but it's the best I can give for now.

Took a screenshot from my phone... this is how it's supposed to look like in an ideal case (meaning on your monitors).

Wow.. Looks like after upgrading to LA1, the banding became worse on my Note too.
