i did that. but still, the status of the phone still shown i was on the country's network (malaysia celcom).
so in the end,i might as well activate the airplane mode. that solved the problem.
Assuming you're going to use your Singapore SIM card overseas, then all you need to do is ensure "Data roaming" is not selected in your Mobile network settings.

Then no data will go through, but you can still send and receive calls and SMS.

Airplane mode just converts the Note into an expensive media player.

trying to update the official firmware

but my sgn hang at "downloading...do not turn off target!" for more than 15 mins liao

kies error is "device not responding, to resolve issue, please reboot device"

what should i do?
On your PC, uninstall ALL of Samsung's KIES programs and drivers.

Then use a cleaner to get rid of residual in the registry ans program files.

Reboot your PC and reinstall KIES. Plus in your device after you have been prompted and don't unplug until KIES sees your device and all its contents.

You should be fine now.

This is cool. I compared Germany's LA4 with Singapore's LA1 update, and it's equally smooth, though a lot of the little GUI tweaks are not inside LA1. Wonder why Note is getting faster updates compared to SGS2.

I'm guessing they are preparing ICS for note, and thus finishing up all the pre-planned updates for gingerbread and releasing them all in a single period.

Wanna check if there is any difference when using XSP as compared to SIN etc for the csc beside the telco apps? Thinking of changing to XSP from my current SIN.

Has been searching about the screen issues..The sets in Singapore are also facing screen issue?
Because I will get a set later. If I notice problems, can I demand for 1-1 exchange on the spot?

What are the common screen problems, and which are very serious that will affect daily usage? (die die must change)
Yellow tint?
Visible lines?
Banding?

I believe the immediate concrn is to launch in the US with a less buggy software. So we are the lab rats...

This is Eldar's prediction. Apparently he has handled the SGSIII.

Though I wonder if Samsung will follow in the footsteps of Apple and release it later.

Note can use all of them. Though so far only SanDisk has 64GB at class 6

He is a well respected receiver of Samsung info leaked. Though last year he has not been that accurate. That article is based on his opinion. His site is called Mobile Review.
