usb host cannot detect flash drive

usb host cannot detect flash drive

anybody tried to connect a usb flash drive on galaxy note. i tried on my diy otg cable but it was unsuccessful. tried connecting a mouse and it was ok. any setting needed or what format should the thumb drive be?

Do i need to root my galaxy note to do this. Sorry for my newbie question as it is my first time using android.

huh ?!? can connect mouse to galaxy note?!?

Yes, keyboard also. Now i'm trying to make it detect a usb drive.

I tried two thumb drives both fat32.

mine can mount but when u mount will cause UsbStorageunmountter wakelock. need to remove without unmount.

Is your note stock? What brand of thumb drive did you use? Can share how did you do it? Just plug and it worked right away. What type of otg cable did you use.

1-not stock but i think it not much a difference since there videos ppl doing usb thingy around the web
2-hmm not sure it my school freebie thumbdrive fat32
3- i bought my otg from dealextreme lol super long mail time shipped on 22 nov like 5 dec then arrivied

when u connect otg to yr note there a usb connector detected on the top left
when u connect thumbrive is say usb mass storage connected
yr /sdcard/usbstorage need to be empty 1st if not yr thumbdrive data wont show up

I can see the mass storage detected and media scanning after i plugged in my thumb drive. But it does not show on my files.

How do you empty /sdcard/usbstorage? just delete the files inside?

Ok, when no usb drive is attached, there's nothing inside the usbstorage folder. Once i connect the drive it shows sda folder with 0 files inside.

I suspect the problem is my cable as it is diy and might be noisy for data transfer. Maybe i will try with another cable.

try getting a new cable in sls? Its like only $6-8. I got it there and it works fine with fat32 formatted thumbdrive all the time!

Now its working with the connector i bought from the seller here. It's due to my diy connector after all. Thanks for the help!
