Is there a way to convert my iMac into a remote server?

Hi. Would appreciate any help. Just thinking if there is a way to convert my iMac into a remote server so that my friend can access only some folders from Bedok while I live in Punggol. This is because I am finding alternatives of saving cost and time. Don't want to upload too many things to Google Drive or buy the cloud hosting if possible.

Thank you..

You just need to port forward and share the drive.

Sharing drive:
https://support.apple.com/en-sg/guid.../mchlp1657/mac

Port forwarding:
Google port forwarding and your router name.

Port forward to your internal imac ip address with the port that have been configured for smb (should be 445).

Give your friend the external ip address. Should then be able to connect using smb://external_ip_address:445 with the connect to network drive or something like that on his computer.

Believe you need to get a static IP address as well from your internet service provider so that it can be connected from outside your network.
