Good News for those waiting for Sony Xperia 1 (Take note before you import)

Note: I do not work/represent Sony.

I know there are some who import the Xperia 1 as Sony SG may or may not
bring it.
Sony SG have not announced whether will it be available but by
searching the telecom equipment database it is listed.

IMDA database is accurate so those who want to import it,
I suggest hold on first.
*It is a Gov website so no screenshot allowed, those who really want to know
is it true. Do a search on telecom equipment.

Date unknown but accordingly to another thread, there is a particular
member rumor it to be August.

According to the database, the model is J9110, Type PM-1221-BV.

However Xperia 10 is not listed except Xperia 1.
This may also means Xperia 1 will be the only phone sold here after
a long absent last year.

One key thing I noticed is that for Xperia 1 it is under Sony Electronics SG but not Sony mobile.
Which may suggest that Sony Electronics SG will handle the repair and etc.
Those have already import, hopefully your set works fine.

Hope this news will be good news for those waiting for Xperia 1.
My XZ1 that I am still using will eventually need a successor.

Latest Update

Sony SG have listed Xperia 1 on their website.
Availability and pricing not known yet.

Kenshin79, hueman, Aikon and 1 others like this.

There was a news back then regarding some merging of departments within Sony.

Guess it makes little difference to customers since they are all under one brand.

Normally US version is not part of international version for Sony phones.

Is J9110 the Taiwan Dual SIM version of the Xperia 1? Hopefully they bring in the Xperia 1 soon.

My last Sony was the XZ Premium which I liked a lot.

Exact model not indicated so in due time it will be known.
Reason of this thread is info for those who are thinking to import.
Especially those want to get it before it is sold here which remains
unknown when.

Warranty is an issue for import set which can be costly to service.

And import tax, overall may be much higher price than selling price if available here.

Talked to the Sony staff at wisma yesterday. Confirmed official launch 28th August, they will only be bringing in a limited amount of stocks, once sold out they will not be bringing in again.can only purchase at Sony stores apparently.

PO Price 1399. If you have PO-ed you can collect it at 16 August instead

So from then on, will they be bringing in future Sony models?
