Huawei’s new P30 Pro smartphone has jaw-dropping low-light abilities and industry-leading image quality. The company has been touting its quad camera system as being co-engineered by Leica, but here’s an interesting piece of info that isn’t being widely publicized: all the imaging sensors were made by Sony.

EE Times just published a teardown of the P30 Pro in which they discovered the Sony origins of the sensors.

“Separating Huawei P30 Pro, more than anything else though, is its use of quad cameras,” EE Times writes. “The new smartphone literally has four cameras. They include a main camera, plus cameras for wide-angle, Time-of-Flight and a periscope view. All four use Sony CMOS image sensors.”

Maybe Huawei pays more to Sony semiconductor than Sony mobile.

Not surprising, iPhone also uses Sony sensor.

Sony make the best mobile phone camera sensor. So don't use Sony, no other choice. Not even Samsung come close.

But their mobile division keeps mucking up whatever sensors they get through poor software and lack of features like ois
