We have a bull steepening of the yield curve when compared to levels 1 month ago. What does this mean? read on:

Possibly just reflect the initial phase of aggressive rate cuts driving down the 2 years while the 10 year is still adjusting down. But all sectors are diving together at this phase including consumers staples and healthcare. Even the big staples like KO and PG earlier in the week. I think need to wait for stabilisation. Need to do bottom up for stock selection if trying to buy in/Long.

there are probably ways to make money too on a downturn

would be great if there's any pros on how to navigate these choppy waters

volatility is good for those pro traders, not for simple retail investors :s12:

Try XLE. But you sure you got your sector selection right? Unless you really want to trade the mean reversal in the opec talk failures. XLE may not be a good choice then because there are oil related technology companies in there if I am not wrong - do a check on the holdings.
Otherwise if looking for commodity ETFs: can just google and check for volume and liquidity.

I have not monitored weekend DJI - has it been reflective of opening for Monday session?

yes if you are asking if it follows from Monday 6a.m when weekday futures trading resume. but as you have mentioned, premarket can fluctuate until actual opening of US market.

Hmm I have always thought ST is all about long term investing. I'm more of day/swing trader

Does he explain which sectors to turn too? All I'm looking for is textbook defensive plays... All the sectors and tickers that do well in this virus environment

Learn to short the markets.

I want to do that but I am very confused about the cost of doing so.
For eg. I use ibkr.

So when I sell to buy a short position, what is the price that I should enter to "buy this short position"?

Should I enter price as low as possible or as high as possible?

Secondly, what is fee and rebate fee? The interest stated is per annum?

Lastly, is it risky because u might get hit by the 25% rule for margin account?

always have a stop but you need that sort of instinct to know when will the markets turn... this type of 2-3% movement intraday is good for volatility trade for novice traders as you can change the position to suit the market and still make profit even if you bet the wrong way initially but have stop in place.
