Hard to sell tuas spring. Loss money at least until 2020. 2038 already have to return. Depend on Hyflux for expertise and tech. Who going to buy?

Dr M asks for 10x more for his river water .
And this may be a turning point .

Electricity rate is up too.

madtari 23-08-2018 12:41 PM

He can ask... any Tom dick Harry can also ask. But why should we cave in to their request w/o any benefit? We won't budge unless there's other tangible benefit like in e past we bundled in the tanjong pagar station for discussion.

Yeah I don't see why we should negotiate if there are no benefits. The agreement is there in black and white, they have to honour it.

Well, sooner or later long before this old water agreement expires ,new agreement has to be negotiated....

Maybe by then we will be self sufficient.

Electricity rate is up due to gas cost higher. Same loss, no change. Wait long long for the new water treaty. Bank can not wait, need to collect the interest. Now.

Mergui219067 24-08-2018 05:37 PM

Hyflux produces electricity.
And it may sell it at market price whether it is natural gas generated or not .

Of course Hyflux may close shop if PUB believes it has alternative. Unfortunately its banker is Maybank.

They want to sell tuas spring and electricity price higher no help for it. Same loss. Bankrupt means gov got a almost free plant. They will take it with both hands.

All the best to ppl who have vested.

Hot_Dog 27-08-2018 09:49 AM

A bad business decision is what it is. Borrowed too much for an asset that does not return enough to cover interest payments and running costs.
Throwing good money in after the bad, is not the solution.

Once the plant is sold below liabilities, many uncle and aunty will lose part/all of their capital.

If not sold and there is turnaround, there will hope for these auntie and uncles
