Dear friends,

I have been investing in equities for a few years. However, I am not able to clear the Customer Accounts Review as I am not from the finance industry and do not have the 6 trades required in SIPs. I would like to find out from the brothers here, how did you manage to overcome the barriers and pass the CAR to invest in IWDA etf since it is a listed SIP?

I was planning to DCA the etf monthly until I realize I cannot due to failing the CAR after opening the account with SCB. Grateful for any advice.
How rigorous is the checks now? 3-4 years ago it’s just a simple questionnaire and you tick yourself. I remember there’s 3 qualifiers; finance related job experience, business degree or 6 trades done.

Ask yourself which is the easiest to smoke? lol. Anyway I qualified in 2 out of the 3, so wasn’t a problem for me.

I have been having a fair bit of confusion about the Tiered vs Fixed pricing for LSE IWDA, and decided to share for those who are fairly new to this as well. Apologies if the same has been shared previously.

Tiered
- 0.05% commission, min USD 1.70, max USD 39 (under "EUR, CHF, USD, PLN, ILS and HUF-Denominated Products Tiered")
- 0.0045% LSE exchange fee, min GBP 0.10
- GBP 0.06 (~USD 0.08) LSE clearing fee

Fixed
- 0.05% commission, min USD 5

This means that Tiered is better for trades below USD 9,028 (commission of USD 5), and trades above USD 85,890 (commission of USD 42.945).
Realistically, it's unlikely that we would do a single trade as large as USD 86k (well, unless you have been building a big warchest and markets go into meltdown), hence the decision point is really on the USD9k.

TL;DR
Go with Tiered if your LSE IWDA trade size is less than USD 9k.
Go with Fixed if your LSE IWDA trade size is greater than USD 9k.

Yea, actually if just one trade per month, the savings is at most USD 40 per year. But then, free savings and minimal effort to change la

That's quite low. Think can start buy in small amounts before that and just buy larger amount everytime it's gets lower.

Nah, won't sell unless it's to rebalance.
