Rupee has strengthened about 3 - 4%!

With Powell's comments yesterday, expect a weaker USD, and stronger Rupee. Here's to wishing the deal drags on and the rupee continues to climb

Now I hope they keep dragging and pay us dividend along the way. :)

May I know how u derived this figure?

RHT declared net proceeds as S$619.50mil after using INR52.99 which was the locked FX agreed.
(printed copy can be found in wilmar investingnote).

Thus the net proceeds in INR is S$619.5 x 52.99 = INR 32,827.305 mil

Using the current FX of INR50.88,
Net proceeds in S$ => 32827.305 divided by 50.88 = S$645.19 mil
No. of shares declared by RHT = 811.4 mil (printed copy in handout)

Thus unit price = 645.19 divided by 811.4 = S$ 0.795

*To simplify, use 40.4576 divided by INR rate in bloomberg forex to get the unit price.
Latest rate is 50.74.
Don't forget there will be a 5% retention from the unit price.

Just read through the circular dated 29 Aug 18. Based on the INR rate of 50.90, the payout would be 80.6 cents. Less 5% retention money, the special dividend would be 76.6 cents. Now that the rate had improved to 50.74 as of today, the special dividend would be slightly better than 76.6 cents if we presume the deal is completed tomorrow..

(You are welcomed Lkpccl).

My latest (estimated) calculation of unit price payout was based on announcement dated end Sep 18 so it should supercede the circular dated 29 Aug 18's of 80.6 cts. :( (based on latest, it became 79.5 cts for inr50.90).

Anyway, may I know what you mean by 'special dividend'? Do you mean the $ to be returned to unitholder?

The money from the sale of assets will be returned to unit holders as special dividend.
Cash holdings remain with company.

I hope after they declare special dividend, there will still be enough money to buy one small hospital? :(

I think it's called special 'distribution' and not 'dividend'?

So going by today's rate at 51.85,
40.4576 / 51.85 = $0.78
So special distribution will be 0.78 * 5% = 0.741, retention will be $0.039. is this correct?

Also, do we have to factor in the quarterly dividends too?

Yes correct. However, rate is changing fast. Today is above 52 already. They are extremely slow to conclude the deal. Wonder what is holding up?

Quarterly dividend is separate matter. It will be calculated up till closed of deal.
But it wouldn't be much, as no more outstanding dividend except for Oct to deal close date. Should be less than 1 cent.

Yes, I was backreading and realised most of the discussion happened back in October. So more than a month has passed, not sure what is holding up the deal.

And wow, exchange rate quite volatile indeed. Just check now is 52.67!
