Just checked with SCB banker.

They don't handle REITS so you can't xfer, buy/sell on SCB platform.
Also, for rights issue, only priority customers will get called up to apply for rights.

Seems like you pay for what you get. SCB is only good for short-term non-unit trust trading.

Clearly that CSO who serviced you knows jack squat. Of course you can buy/sell REITs and you can subscribe to rights issue through SCB provided you own the shares to which you are granted said rights.

Rights issue they'll do for all customers, without any charge.

On another note, anyone had experience with warrants on SCB? Specifically the shares you own has been awarded warrants, not trading in them.

Are you sure? Can check with the banker again?

I just tried placing orders for 2 reits. Order made and acknowledged for trade without any issue.

you dont get the letter because you are not the shareholder per se as your shares are held in trust by SCB (they are the nominees). but you can call up SCB to say you wanna subscribe to the rights.

i transferred in person so i cant comment on your other question.

So for all the shares I transfer to SCB I have to request that I want to subscribe to rights? Or else I won't receive any letter informing me of rights issue?
Thanks for your replies!

Oh pardon me, I get your reply now.
I will receive the letter for rights issue, no action is required on my part, unless I want to subscribe to the rights!

I believe there is no letter at all as I haven't encounted a rights issue but from previous comments, it appears to be that either (i) you have to call them up to say you wish to subscribe, or (ii) they will call you up and ask you how you wish to proceed.

But the point is: You won't get the letter from the corporate secretary, which all other shareholders (whose shares are held with CDP) normally get.
